to add to that hook it looks like its cast not forged, when cast fails it breaks off and snaps, forged will typically bend and open up when it fails

yeah they have a plug in the end, if they get overfilled with grease they can hydraulic the plug put as the slip joint compresses, time for a replacement driveshaft if its failed on excessive play in the spline

Re: calling 1KZTE (spec. kzn185) gurus

watch your wallet and your expectations mate, the 1kzte is a 97kw engine you can throw thousand and thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of research and labour at it and if your lucky make 30%-50% gains which = net 130kw to 150kw which is pretty low down on the scale of performance, you could ...

an erratic high idle the first thing you want to check is vacuum leaks make sure there are aren't any ports that haven't been caped off or hoses going nowhere or something you've missed, have you got an engine light or obd port you can check for codes to see if you have a sensor that isn't working y...

there isn't a lot of strength in exos anyway they are only any good for a wee lie down or for getting hooked up on trees and branches to do a bit of body damage, theres a whole pile of national trials trucks out there with the tops of cages chopped off and new ones welded on top to meet the new incr...

its perfectly legal to flip centres the same as widening rims, changing centres and beadlocking but it has to meet lvvta criteria and pass their certification to be used on a road vehicle

Re: Why no Maxxis Tyres?

silverstones and simexes do wear very quickly and particularly the silverstones with their softer compound but they are a performance tyre and nothing else so you don't buy them for their long lasting wearing ability let alone wasting them driving around on tar sealed roads :D

Re: Why no Maxxis Tyres?

those creepies are an awful tyre, they are a hard rubber compound and very heavy tyre and far too stiff in the sidewall to bag unless you've got them on a 3.5t barred up safari and even then most other tyres will out perform them, the only box creepies tick is they are hard to damage and cut up on r...

Re: Sbc heads info needed

you want to find yourself an online static compression calculator to see how those 64cc heads will be on your engine but being a low compression smog motor you would be well within the pump gas threshold for comp ratio, alloy heads are nice bling but just throwing them on may leave you a bit disappo...

Re: Sbc heads info needed

you'd end up spending double that but the money would be far better thrown at an ls1 with much better technology, performance and drivability than an old gen1. To make your old chevy a good performer you need more than just heads and it'll easily out cost a bolt in gen 3 engine, stick a $100 set of ...

Re: LN107 diff ratio ?

I think the G52 refers to your diff. The G means it is the 8" diff common to hiluxs, the 52 means it is a 3.72 ratio I believe. very close but the diff code should be 4 digits, would be a pain in the arse if the diff code could be the same as the gearbox code :D X=crownwheel diameter ie G=8&qu...

I think there are some models that didn't get the diff code stamped on the plate and I've a funny feeling NZ and Jap new may have been assembled with different ratios, the codes are all over the net but no use to you if you don't know what code you have, only certain way is to pull a diff out and ha...

rather than talking to an auto sparky you'd be far better off talking to whoever you're going to take it to for lvvta certification so it meets their requirements, its always a pain in the arse having to do a job twice because you didn't find out what the correct way was the first time around :)
