Ok Mudluva Lets put it like this, you have made the statement I am prepared to put up $2000 if you can back up your statement that I work there. Plenty of people on the forum know me outside of the Forum so lets see your money, put it where your mouth is

Re: Firestone the Strand Auckland

I wanted four new tyres for the surf and settle on the Bridgestone Desert Dueler 694, telephoned Firestone and they quoted $285 a tyre so booked it in and got the work done aweek later but then they now wanted $315 a tyre. Verbal quote means nothing to them. Thanks a lot Firestone I won't be back. ...

Re: Vehicle Rego

Looks like other people have had similar experiences, I might try it on line next time, but for people who can't go online and there are lots of them, it makes you think that if AA can't process rego's in a timely fashion (Shouldn't have to be in there more than ten to fifteen minutes) perhaps other...

Vehicle Rego

Just went in to my local AA to do rego, will definitely be the last time frequenting an AA establishment. 45 minutes before I got to the counter, will do it at NZ Post next time. Perhaps some more competition is required, With only two counters available, they seemed to waste time with trying to coe...

Re: Thanks alot Bridgestone Firestone the Strand Auckland

This was from you in 2009  The Destinations are apparently made by Firestone here in NewZealand so you would think they could come up with a tyre that would go the distance on New Zealand roads. Due to the fact that Firestone's customer service were arrogant and quick to point the finger at t...

Re: Thanks alot Bridgestone Firestone the Strand Auckland

Well in light of all these anti B/F posts here, I definitely won't be going that way again. My feeling is that I would sacrifice both road noise and mileage for better grip on seal and gravel. When you sacrifice both and are stuck with a product that still doesn't grip as well as the tyres you had j...

I dread to think what would have happened if I had to change to the spare on the roadside, you can bet there wouldn't have been a convenient sized metal tube handy.

Re: Thanks alot Bridgestone Firestone the Strand Auckland

Yep, I phoned them up but the response I got was the usual indifference that I have come to expect from them, no apologies but just excuses. These tyres are on their last rotation so will need replacing in the next 6 months. Guess where I won't be going for new tyres. My opinion of the B/S D/D 694 h...

Thanks for doing my wheelnuts up so bloody tight I had to use a one metre long length of two inch tube on the handle of the wheel brace two get the nuts to move. Re: PRS Will go to 80 Channels

At the moment no compulsory change over date has been selected for changing from wide band to narrowband but the feeling is natural attrition will probably account for most wideband radio's in the next 5-10 years, probably most people will make the change to newer rigs just to acceess the additional...

Re: Law regarding front spotlights

Even between VTNZtesting stations there appears to be many inconsistancies regarding the way they interperet the rules regarding vehicle lighting and when you factor private workshops into the equation this just compounds the problem. Most Private garages will only check that the lights are going ra...

Re: PRS Will go to 80 Channels

In Aucks there does seem to be a reduction in the number of repeaters available, Bombay channel 8 is no longer on site and Whitford Ch 7 also seems to be no longer on air this just leaves Klondyke and Awhitu and sometimes Waitakere and less than mediocre performance of Glenfield Ch 1. Anouncement of...

Re: Woman fined for slow driving.

Same happened to one of my workmates driving at 65kph over the harbour bridge. Pulled over and fined for obstructing traffic. According to some other guys the traffic was doing close to 80kph or just over at the time and he was just backing traffic up behind him.
Good job cops!

Re: Law regarding front spotlights

As far as I knew if you had additional lights mounted to a vehicle they have to be functional. . Yep I can vouch for that one driving light bulb had blown and the guy was going to fail me for a warrant, he offered me a halogen bulb at a grossly inflated price but in one minute I had both lights off...

Re: Hella Spotlights

Just arrived back from Aus with A 100 watt HID kit to use on the IPF Super Rally driving lights Should be plenty or light there, maybe enough to melt holes in other peoples plastic bumpers. Just have to fit relays and rest of the wiring is pretty straight forward. These lights have no problem taking...

Hi Snork, Sorry for the late reply. The xenon bulbs were purchased in the UK online, just google Autobulbsdirect and they were about 30 pounds for a set of two bulbs so not cheap but excellent quality. They are also marketing bulbs by another company called Ring who have just released a +120 bulb. T...

Re: Hella Spotlights

I just fitted some Philips Extreme Vision +100 bulbs to my Surf. These are Xenon bulbs but not to be confused with HID which in my case would have been illegal. The bulbs are standard 60/55 wattage but produce 100% more light than a standard wattage halogen bulb. These bulbs only produce the same he...

yikes, an easy job for them got hard so they cheated. next time they fail (20 years hopefully) best to just tickle the bearing surfaces to a common metric size. Just over 12 months ago went to my local East Auckland garage to get a warrant for the trailer. I guess most people who take there car to a private garage for their WOF will get away with an illegal HID conversion, but there is always a danger of being randomly pulled over by constable plod because he found your lights were dazzling him. HID Conversion

The guy who usually does my warrants explained to me that with HID conversion it is illegal to retrofit to a car with a single light dual beam set up and that seems to be about 80% of cars on the road. If your car has a dual headlight system, ie separate light for high beam and low beam operation yo...
