Re: r50 3.2 diesel pump issues?

Other issues: - surges while sitting on 50-60 km/hr, revs go up for no reason and orange light comes on. - sometimes cuts out completely while sitting at lights. Is this diesel pump also? Yep. The needle valve is basically a pin moved up and down by magnets, the needle valve wears due to our poor f...

Re: r50 3.2 diesel pump issues?

Get your hands on a mechanical turbo pump and accelerator cable as soon as ya can... one day soon you will go to start it and it will only idle. Had exact same issues. Thought it was also crook auto trans but the auto box issues are a symptom of a surging engine as the auto ecu relies on inputs fro...

r50 3.2 diesel pump issues?

I have had the following issues over the last few months: 1. Slight surging when put in drive when starting cold ie. accelerates more than it should. 2. Engine dying at about 70-80 km/hr. Have to pull over. It then just starts as per normal. 3. Vibrations in the engine or gearbox when it changes int...

Yes - both stop together, then go again. Both are analogue.

Thanks

Oh - the odometer is digital - that doesn't stop! (unfortunately)

R50 rev counter and speedo flicking on and off...

Anyone experienced this? Both going while driving then all of a sudden go dead, then come back on later?! An electrical issue I presume. I have checked the fuses - all OK. :?

Re: r50 still has a knock

Is likely to be the exhaust flexor hitting the chassis. Look underneath the front passenger side and you will see the mesh looking exhaust flexor just down from the engine. It is quite close to the chassis and when it gets a bit old it flexes too much. It is there to stop your exhaust system from cr...

Re: Best Value for Money getting new tyres

Go find a local tyre shop that's into 4wding and go support them. Then you can go glean knowledge off them and get looked after at the same time. They wont be the cheapest because they cant be due to cost of a running workshop, paying wages, tools etc. But they will give you a A grade service and b...

I seriously hope you are not spamming or advertising under the disguise of being a happy customer. We have vendors here who support the site and the offroad community in general. I would rat...

re lifting - my understanding is that, because of the chassis, the R50's can only be lifted a couple of inches which may not suit you.

Best Value for Money getting new tyres

I recently outfitted our Terrano with a new set of Hankook Dynapro AT's and are very happy with them. I looked and shopped around a bit and found that the internet tyre company tyresales.co.nz was the cheapest for these - $191 per tyre delivered to your door. I then used the mobile tyre guy here in ...

Re: WANTED: Truck Up to 10k

Best value for money is a Nissan Terrano R50 with 3.2 Diesel. Should be able to get a very good one 1997-1998 for 10K. We just bought a minter recently but had to get it from Wellington (we're in ChCh too) as these are very popular in ChCh hence less of them and higher price. Also depends if you wan...

Re: Terrano Regulus rough idle (when in drive)

Mate, I have the same vehicle but is a GM3R. Turn the "heat" button on when first starting in the morning. This increases the idle speed. Turn off after a couple of minutes.

Otherwise they can be a bit rattlely first thing.

Otherwise perhaps the engine mounts have seen better days?!

Best value for money 4WD on the market, closely followed by the newer Kia Sorrentos. The powerplant in the R series is superb.

Re: Best Rear Shocks for an R50?

BNT are doing Gabriel shocks on special at the moment. OK for std vehicle. I'm also trying to find some shocks for my R50 but I need 2" longer than std. Struggling to find any :( I have just been recommended Drive Tech 4x4 H/D's which can take up to a 50mm lift. Anyone had experience with these?

So having found out that air shocks are crap, can anyone recommend a good set of heavy duty rear shock absorbers?

Re: Nissan R50 knocking noise rear passenger side

Well it turns out that the main problem was over inflating the air shocks so they had too little travel in them. I had them at 40 psi when they should have been 10 psi! (without a load)

But the mechanic reckons air shocks are the worst thing ever invented!

Monroe air shocks in the back of R50

Have found my "new" R50 has these. Has the little pump up valve on the tow bar.

Any advice on how to use these correctly would be appreciated ie. correct air pressure and recommended towing pressure etc. :D

best all round tyres for r50

Hi, currently have Hankook RF08's (265/70/15) on my Terrano which seem fine and apparently are very durable but have read they are a bit dodgy cornering on wet sealed roads.

I drive 90% on tar seal with the odd off road excursion for fishing boating etc.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. :D
