Re: 1996 KZJ78 starting issue

hi, after endless searching the ECU was found the culprit
capacitor leaked and that was it
fortunately I found someone to spot and fix it
runs strong again
what a desaster but luckyly not an expensive endeavour

Delica 2.8 noise issue intake side?

hi all, my newest addition to car trouble is a 1994 L400 2.8 4m40 powered. what puzzles me: when in neutral you can rev up to 4000 (didn´t go beyond) without a thing. when under load driving, from 2500 revs there is a noisy blow by sound. found that there is the pressure relief valve on intake manif...

Re: Mitsubishi Delica 2.8td - data sheet for import

hey , many thanks.
I´ve visited both sites. the spritmonitor is a website where individuals post their actual consumption over whatever period they like.
the other one quite helpful, but prefarably looking for a document which has been accepted by an authority.
thx

I believe for the import there needs to be a code on the deregistration sheet indicating emission class or so

Mitsubishi Delica 2.8td - data sheet for import

hi all, I am looking for some help with a data sheet for a Delica lwb, 2.8 td 4M40 engine. I am in the process of buying one but to get it registered in our country (Austria) I need a data sheet including CO2 emission or fuel consumption. how is that in NZ? do you need prove of that when importing/l...

Re: KZJ78 Intercooler and other Upgrades

finally the turbo is installed in combination with chip tuning box at medium level it fires up to 4900 revs/min which was 4500 before both at factory boost of 0,7bar. I don´t feel any delay in spooling up, bottom torque still good. before playing with boost and chip set I need to refresh the road te...

hi guys after a break of 1,5 years my KZJ78 is finally back to life. during installation of my upgrade turbo with bigger turbine wheel the guy at the garage damaged the wiring from ecu to fuelpump as suspected. that has been fixed now, the fuelpump was totally rebuilt which doesn´t hurt after 23 yea...

Re: !997 Prado 1KZ-TE Starting Issues

short update here:

ECU was checked at electronics shop, capacitors are still fit for the job, no flaws detected.
this reduces the source of error to the cables between pump and ECU.
tired of it...
regarding conversion still no donor car found. will try to get it going first and then keep searching.

Re: !997 Prado 1KZ-TE Starting Issues

now i tried to hook up the ECU from a Prado 95 but it would not work as well. starter motor turning strong but no firing up. probably as assumed the immobiliser. didn´t expect the starter motor turning at all.

no progress again. too little time.

start thinking about conversion to manual pump.

little update from my side. Re: !997 Prado 1KZ-TE Starting Issues

i would check ecu. really common to get capacitor failures on those old vehicles. that tends to cause a few weird problems. i suspect it screws with the voltage required for the sensors. you should not get low voltage cutout at 12v. typically i think its around 10 or 11v. however worth checking to ...

Re: !997 Prado 1KZ-TE Starting Issues

well, strange enough... today I spent some time to try the diagnosis routine of the WSM. no error code I checked some of the connectors which is not easy . the one connector on top of the pump, is it kind of a power supply for the pump? is it the speed sensor? actually I DON´T get any voltage there....

Re: !997 Prado 1KZ-TE Starting Issues

i have checked all sensors, well there aren´t too many, for my understanding there are also air temp, boost and RPM which are all not crucial to fire up. it would fire up with petrol in the intake but stalling instantly. I wonder if it has anything to do with the immobiliser. I imported the car from...

Re: Diesel tuner

depends also on the general setup.
12 - 14 l/100km is quite normal for me.
I have 33" tyres and run 4.88 diff ratio. automatic gear box.
only on highways cruising 100km/h I come down to 11,5
on 31" with 4,33 diff ratio I did 10,5 - 12,0

it´s a big car, I wonder who get´s more out of it?
