Re: prado/surf SAS 4" lift custom radius arms
they said replacement arms have to be same strength or stronger than originals, and preferably longer. also asked about reshaping the brackets that the factory arms bolt into to keep castor right if I keep using them and they happy. 002.jpg something like that. You probably can't angle the arms up ...

Re: X5 Project.
Nice work! Good to see a winch bar with a proper view of the drum so you can spot a snarl up before it gets serious.
In case you haven't seen it already, check out http://fozroamer.com/ - kinda similar build with a Subaru Forester.

this one? https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/viewranger-cycling-hiking-trails-topo-maps/id404581674?mt=8 Yep, that's it. The app is free but you have to pay to get the NZ topo50 maps. I think it has a free NZ topomap set which is actually pretty good & can also be downloaded for offline use, but I...

It's called Viewranger. Was $40 for all NZ on up to 3 devices, also have it on my phone, there are other free/cheap mapping apps but I reckon this one is worth the money. Can easily download all the maps for offline use & it just works well.

Haven't been too busy over the last week or so, so have uploaded all the pics to Smugmug & edited all the links so this thread is back, better than new as I've added in a few extra pics I've found trawling through my old folders. Really liking the Smugmug pic hosting, super easy to use, well wor...

Looking good! I've always wanted to put a removable horizontal bar across each door that hinges open with door, just below handle height, for leaning against banks/trees etc. had given up on that idea with no B pillar bar, but now its making me think again..... One thing that could be good f...

Nice work! Good to see some solid tow hooks going on early in the build - hopefully you've got something similar out the back? Looks like the next project should be a front skid plate going down from the bumper maybe?

I should post pics but my free photo host site suddenly wanted US$400 so need to get another one set up... Yep, the 2mm alu fridge drawer is about 120mm high & retracts back into a box, & it sits on the floor of the box when in. The box has cutouts at the inside end to vent the condenser etc...

Make sure that voltage drop is actually the starter - check the cable, solenoid, earth lead etc. Any of those things can be a bit bit dodgy, won't drop any volts at no/low amps but will steal your ergs when the load comes on. Good luck!

I made a drawer for my 35L Engel earlier this year. Used a pair of 60kg full extension rails https://www.fullie.co.nz/collections/drawer-runners/products/700mm-60kg-ball-bearing-runner-1-x-set (Doh, sold out now) Made it so the alu drawer tray sits on it's base when retracted, means the action isn't...

Rolling again! Gearbox all in & working nice. The transfer case gears are still a bit noisy though, trying a different oil hasn't helped there. Might look into some of that soundproof matting for under the carpet. New clutch is working well, doesn't seem too much heavier at the pedal. Planning a...

Yep, I built myself a press & it's been way more useful than I thought. Cheaper to just buy one unless you have some suitable steel lying around though. You see them for ~$300 on special sometimes. I also made up some properly sized punches on my wee lathe that make the job hugely easier. http:/...
