It's not Coromandekl - it's BoP. Just south of Katikati. Sorry, I'm North of the Bombays, everything East of the Firth as far down as Tauranga is greater Coromandel area  Muriwai is always good for a play. If you want mud the clubs have lots of places, including Extreme 4WD Park, which remind...

Thompsons track is Coromandel, south end. Are you in a club? Norwest OHV and Shore 4 Wheelers have access to some great spots for club runs not too far North. Both are great clubs with some really knowlegeable chaps, not sure about Pajeros though. You know what Pagero translates to aye :P. I'm sure ...

GQ Difflock slow to disengage

Factory rear difflock often doesn't disengage for a long time and gives a bit of a clunk when coming out. Anyone experienced this? Is there an easy fix?

Low volumne cert for beadlocks requires 1 bolt every 10 degrees around the beadlock (last time I checked the rules, about a month ago), so beadlocks with less than 36 bolts will not pass a LVV cert for on road use. Having said that, I have seen certed vehicles with 24 bolts, but then I haven't actua...

The diff head (Carrier Sub-Assy, differential, front) part number changed 08/1992. The CVs (Shaft Sub-Assy, Front Axle Outer) changed 08/1992, 04/1994 and 01/1995. I don't know what the significance of the changes are.

I don't know if the HP Landcruiser diff head will fit a Hilux housing, but if you are going for a HP Landcruiser diff and plan to give it a bit of abuse, then make sure you get the later model double skin diff head. If you plan on giving it serious abuse then add a bit more strengthening.

I think Hilux 79 to 85 beam axle is 30 spline and IFS Hilux, Surf, 4 Runner are 26 spline. Pathfinder, Terrano, early Navara and Kingcab are 27 spline.

I compared the MQ winch on trademe with our GQ and space between drum and gearbox was the main obvious difference. I'd be keen to know if the gears are interchangeable.

My understanding is that the 'Bombing Range' is strictly off limits to all recreational users. There were police and security guards up the north end of the beach a while back stopping everyone from going near the area. Apart from huge soft holes, shrapnel and stolen flags during live operations, th...

As almost anyone will tell you both manual and auto have there respective places off road. An auto with a shift kit to make it almost manual like is pretty good, still doesn't help down hill. Ideally one of the modern manuals with electronics to make it tip-tronic would be nice, like the BMW M3 or a...

Which Nissan V8s are being suggested, (says he with tiring petrol 6 Patrol). I understand the VH45DE is a wide V and hard to fit in and the VH41DE is light on cubes. Does anyone know how the newer VK45DE or VK45DD will fit? I always thought chevs where a good option, many adapters and cheapish parts.

LTB 34/10.5R16 should be 33.6 inch diameter according to the interco web site [http://www.intercotire.com/site36.php]. I haven't personally tried the LTBs, but I know my ETs expanded a fair bit from unmounted to mounted at 20psi.[/url]
