Re: gear stick problems
Sounds like they missed a ball bearing and spring on the selector rods. When I had my manual trans recon'd they missed a ball from the top. Had to strip the whole thing down again to put it in. I was driving it in this condition, struggling to keep it in gear and eventually the trans 'locked' to th...

Re: Winch isolator
Chasing stray currents is reasonably straight forward. Just need an multi-meter. @Aroma, I have one you can borrow if needs be, can show you what to do too,. Easiest way to diagnose is to pull a fuse, put the meter across it and measure the current. Wont be on the internet much this weekend, so tex...

Re: Winch isolator
Based on what I've read you probably need to be looking around the 700-800 Amp range. From memory the stall load on the last two winches I've had were 520 amps and 650 amps.

Re: 2nd opinion, are my batteries stuffed?
Give them a good long charge if you haven't already with a decent charger and then check the voltage under load for a drop. It's not enough to use the vehicle to charge them even if you go for a decent hoon in my own experience. I have a proper 10 amp conditioning charger, fully conditioned both (d...

2nd opinion, are my batteries stuffed?
Hi Guys, I have had to jump start the 80 quite a few times over the last 3 weeks. Over the last 6 months both batteries have dropped to 7 volts (as a pair) 4 times. 3 due to kids leaving interior lights on and once due to a seized starter motor. When parked up, I get a voltage drop of about .4 Volts...

Can you elaborate on this a bit more ? Or paste the specific wording that rules a pedal swap as needing cert . I'm not arguing or disagreeing . Just seems dumb if you are bolting oem stuff in ? from lvvt site Gearbox substitution the OE gearbox cross-member has not been heated, cut, or welded; an...

Re: Problems With Manual Conversion LN130 91 2l-te Surf.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing as my auto trans is on the way out. My question is whether there is any other major hurdles, that I should be aware of? Is the clutch master cylinder a problem to get right? does it need to be road legal? if so it will need a cert. Is it not possible to do bolt ...

on the road with M/Ts I usually run 40-45psi. A/Ts or car tyres 32-38psi. I do pretty much exactly the same, 38 PSI in my AT's and 40 in my Simex's. Generally on a new set of tyres I cover 6" of the tread from one side to the other in chalk to see what the contact pattern is and adjust pressur...
