Re: Rubicon vs Sport vs Overland
Tell FCA about the dealer selling a new Jeep as Rubicon that is not a factory Rubicon and see how quickly the dealership is revoked. Otherwise report that dealer to Commerce Commission for false advertising with proof. If you can't do either, then stop repeating hearsay. Do you have a vehicle window...

Re: Good news for the wrangler built in 2016
Yes, I wasn't clear as my search of info here in NZ didn't help a lot. Perhaps, better to say that I am looking at a 2016 model year but in the US meaning of it, not the NZ one... In any case, I know that it will be difficult but yep, we are in April, I don't care to wait another 3-4 months.. If yo...

Re: Good news for the wrangler built in 2016
You are half way across the world, looking for a 2016 build which is also a 2016 model year in April 2016. Good luck. You might have better luck hitting Powerball..... Ask for something that is possible given how the supply chain actually starts in Ohio (the only plant that makes Wranglers globally)...

Re: Jeep US vs Jeep Japan
Time to deal with a different dealer... If they are not happy to give you VIN confirmation before, how much fun would they be to deal with if there is a warranty claim..
You are paying them good money, they are not giving you something for free.

Re: Jeep US vs Jeep Japan
You can always build a Jeep to your specs and colors, but the wait would be 4-6 months. As it would be built specially for you. My JKR was built in 2011 late as MY 2012. Sold and registered in NZ in early 2012. Build Sheet clearly shows it was for export market destination AU/NZ. After leaving Ohio ...

Re: Jeep US vs Jeep Japan
In US convention, Model Year is different than Registration Year. Model Year is in the VIN, hard coded from the factory as to what year and specs it was built for. A 2014 MY registered for the first time globally in NZ in 2016 is still a 2014 model. US model year runs are from 1 Oct to 30 Sept typic...

Re: Jeep US vs Jeep Japan
A dealer selling a Rubicon new cannot take things off once it's left the factory. If they sell a Rubicon with badges, but VIN doesn't confirm it to be so = fraud and false advertising. Don't compare the new 3.6l with new/different auto transmission with 3.8l with old auto. They are completely differ...

Will certainly do. Thanks. If you ever wondered what did your Jeep left the factory with, just get your build sheet from Jeep instantly: https://jeep.custhelp.com/app/jeep/eqlisting_detail Enter your 17 character VIN to view and print your vehicle equipment sheet, which contains the standard and op...

Re: Jeep US vs Jeep Japan
Get a build sheet for NZ direct and NZ via Japan Rubicons. That will show you exactly what is different in each as they left the factory. One of the things that might be different is that some destinations do not necessarily get 4.10 diff ratios in Rubicons. Aus/NZ, do. It's now optional even in US....

Re: Aftermarket front bumpers and wof...
Thanks a lot. The car is a 2016 in this case. You will have to have a bar that has been crash tested and certified to be frontal impact compliant for your Jeep. As I understand, ARB and TJM are certified. A couple of other manufacturers in Australia have also spent the money on certification. Mopar...

BTW, search the actual meaning of trolling. It's not what you think it is.

Re: Rubicon vs Sport vs Overland
Rubicon should be dual top, mine has both soft and hard top. As for GPS, I prefer not to have it as part of the head unit. Maps are easier to upgrade this way. As long as it has UConnect Bluetooth, GPS is not a problem (Google Maps on a phone works best, in my opinion). Factory GPS on my Cherokee is...

Re: Rubicon vs Sport vs Overland
Rubicon has different Rubicon only rims and a hood sticker to easily identify from the outside from a distance. It's a bit of a personal preference between them visually, Rubicons don't have body match painted fenders and hardtop. I prefer that. To me painted fender and top looks unnatural. As for m...

Re: JK Rubicon journey
So those JW Speakers are a good bit of kit? We pushed the go button on a pair a few weeks ago at a 4WD show - waiting for them to arrive. Quite like the bonnet struts too - with some big tyres and a bit of lift it can be quite hard to get the bonnet up properly. Once I got them aimed and aligned pr...

Battery died this morning. It just would not start (starter clicking). It was the one Jeep had put in at the factory.
Replaced it with Optima Yellow top. Battery cables fit fine once the zip ties were cut. Turning out to be an expensive April.

Got the motor working again, one of the wires had come off. Oh well.
Aligned the lights best I could do, and it's day and night in terms of visibility over factory halogens. Nobody flashed me coming the other way on test run, so beam must be aligned correctly.

I will double check, but fairly sure the front seats are interchangeable between all TJs (1997-06). Rear seat changed somewhere in the model run.

Re: New Wrangler?
Difficult to put in words, but easy when you test drive one. First off, the Pentastar V6 is 210 kW (vs 134 kW) engine of TJ. Unlike the older V6 in 2007-2011, 2012+ Pentstar VVT engine delivers 90% of torque form 1,800 rpm to 6,300 rpm (very very flat torque curve). http://www.pentastars.com/engines...

I would not recommend drilling the frame for side bars. Use sandwich plates either side of the frame or something. Don't wrld on the frame either.

Dealers in NZ work the same way they do anywhere else in the world. I don't understand what you are trying to get at. As for accessories, I don't buy them from Jeep dealer. Whatever I have is from local, Australian or US agents of what I am buying. Bullbars from local ARB dealer for example. Re 2dr ...

Re: New Wrangler?
So more reason to import it from Japan, no? Not really. If you are looking for a brand-new one, then why would you want to privately import from anywhere. For one, NZ/Aus specs are better suited for here (eg diff gearing, navigation language, etc). Also, there would be no warranty cover. Vehicle wa...
