there is several of those australian army type land rovers already in NZ, mate. (with the Isuzu diesel conversion etc) so I'm sure it will be do-able. Your modern tires won't be an issue. ok what's the story on them?? the grapevine over here is that Grays came a bit of a cropper on bring these in t...

85County, maybe you have been in Oz to long as your posts really come across as if you are a right prick. ok point taken, i do not even see that i come off that way, not my intent. Re: WOF

Only issue I see is the front dislocation cones . Springs have to be retained or held by mounts at full droop on the hoist . They might also pull you up on any aftermarket steering components . and possibly require new brake hoses , pads and rotors . I would go with factory rims and tyre size ie 23...

Re: axle swaps

Smashing that many Nissan Safari/Patrol CV's may be an indicator of other problems. I also had a series of CV failures (although 3 were from Repco - and broke the stub-axle not the CV housing) - then changed the front axle housing and no problems since. That's a LWB with aftermarket turbo doing som...

Re: axle swaps

And if one happens to mention nissan live axles are weak again... u going to get schooled. They are no weaker then any other main stream 4wd... iu didn't say they were weak, but the CVs are overly hard, thus if you spin one up and drop it they have a tendency to go bang. having said that, they are ...

ok i think this thread is getting a bit over cooked. 33" on a 300tdi disco, manual?? look its no problem, Nothing is going to explode unless your an idiot. But first gear will be a bit uncomfortable, but see how it goes initially, you can always swap out transfer intermediate gears latter, that...

Re: axle swaps

swapping out for Nissan or Toyota stuff is just way to much work for no gain, a silly way to go. slip out your axels on a regular basis if you are off-roading, check the inner spline for any torque twisting yeah the nissan stuff is not a good swop IMO, far prefer the 80 series for extra width givin...

LOOK i think people are over thinking things 6 point bolts are common as are 12 point, every disco i have had has 12 point, but all my defenders have had 6 point. all though i have a clients D1 here now with 6 point i suspect the 12 point with flange is a bit better than a 6 point with a washer. you...

Re: turbo or supercharger?

Sorry, so off topic. I think I get it. Because the boost will be higher in the smaller engine the turbo will perform differently hence why you have to match the turbo compressor maps to the flow and boost you are running. Suppose the same goes for the exhaust side of things as well. yes snap. i lik...

Apparently they haven't moved in six years. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/modified-zone/77261-slotted-swivel-hubs.html I had never heard of this, good to know for when I jack the 110 up further. its not about them moving its about setting them up, same size spacers each side means you will get the same...

Re: turbo or supercharger?

But if you want to create 200hp in each engine you would need to inject the same amount of air and fuel assuming the same thermal efficiency and 14.7:1 fuel air ratio? You would just need no boost on the 4.0l and boost on the 2.0l to get to that 200hp? I see where you are coming from in terms of ai...

guessing its rusted the bearing onto the shaft, or the pressure plate is rusted. either way its pull the gearbox out. agree but, loosen the fluid line at the master first and see if the peddle will go down, that's first step. with luck it will not do these things have an internal or external slave?...

Cool. Where did you get the lockers? Anyone know how to ID the 24 spline vs 10 spline? this is the inner spline, IE the end in the diff. no difference in strength, the change was just for manufacturing, the 10 being machined and the 23 being rolled. as well as the 23 being much easyer to assemble, ...

std land rover axles are fine if you do not drive like a nutter. there seems to be quite a bit of misinformation already posted. up grading axcels is a no brainier, simple and cheep, ashcrofft ot Jmac from Australia. ashcrofft stuff seems to be softer steel, giving it mor flex, thus stronger.
