Re: Rear fan trigger points, max coolant running temp.
While I await my cert plate I got some relays and have wired up for two speed.
Also ordered an Auberins PID controller so I can trigger slow then fast speed at the desired temps.. Will wire in an override switch to full on.

I have an Toyota factory engine manual which covers the 1KZT and supplemental for the 1KZTE.
They are set up the same... Same pop off pressures etc etc,
So I would say they are no different...

Re: Rear fan trigger points, max coolant running temp.
All good stuff guys thanks I did see the two speed fan relay setup. And will probably set it up that way later once I get some temp results with the data loggers. With my radiator in the rear it doesnt get much if any airflow so during highway speeds or load situations i suspect the fan will work mo...

Re: Rear fan trigger points, max coolant running temp.
I plan to take the truck for a run with no fan trigger points set and see what temps it reaches ( safely ) at highway speeds. It may even out at an acceptable temp.... Then I can set fans to come one when it goes higher than the acceptable temp.... See what happens... Yes the thermostat is supposed ...

Re: Rear fan trigger points, max coolant running temp.
Thanks Tweake.... I can set the on off trigger point and spread to anything I like....Auberins digital gauge switching a relay for the fans.
So can have it trigger on at 100 and off at anything lower...
Yeah Thats my thoughts re having the fans come on to close to thermostat temp....

Rear fan trigger points, max coolant running temp.
Hi All About to start doing some seat time in my Prado rear chop and setting up the rear radiator fan trigger points. I am running a 1KZT and have a digital gauge in the water out housing on the block. Using std 86C thermostat. Plumbed into a huge fully shrouded Nissan TD42 radiator on the back tray...

TC lock in a factory setup is something that is not driver controllable. The ECU will lock the torque converter (TC) under certain circumstances. Normally above a certain speed , throttle setting etc etc. My current setup as it stands now could be applied to a standard truck....(putting on the tiptr...

Re: 1KZ-TE rough idling
The fuel spill valve adjustment for when you did the intercooler could be the issue.... The 1/3 of a turn is a rough guide....And its a bush mechanics way to increase fuel delivery and not really the right way. try and back it off a little and see how it feels.... Turn it in too much and it can rev ...

Re: A343F tiptronic / shifter swap. KZJ78 1KZT
Thanks Peter. For me the main thing was drivability on road. With the original setup you only got 3 gears via the lever. Then a button for 4th (od) then a switch for TC lock. This new setup allows me to cruise up and down thru all four gears via the tiptronic feature of the lever. and TCL either man...

on the 1kzte there can be a block of foam between the sump and trans blanking plate at the bottom of the bell housing. Over time it gets full of oil and stuff ... Mine fell apart doing a trans removal 10 years ago... Never bothered to replace it. Only seems to fill the gap... Possibly to prevent stu...

Re: calling 1KZTE (spec. kzn185) gurus
Personally putting in a lower thermostat is not going to solve or prevent overheating issues if the rest of the system is not upto the task. Good radiator, good viscous fan, good pump, clean system and decent coolant are what you want. As they need to shed the heat to allow cooler fluids into the en...

I have just installed it and with him tweaked it thru software updates to get it to work in my Prado.
He is now playing with making it fully automatic....

I had to pull the speedo part out of cluster. Remove the old reed switch and then dremel the place where the reed switch was to hold the new hall effect chip. And get it in the sweet spot to trigger the unit. Then screwed and glued it in place. Run wires and install back into cluster. Used one of the...

No problem. Also look at Force4 and Phil Clark...http://www.force4.co.nz/products-2/novawin-winches/ They have some good comp proven products. If you go the PTO way his Novawin PTO unit will be a good option as it has freespool already in the design. And has a big drum. Better than a used Nissan or ...

Hi all Been playing in the garage again this time with the shifter. I have no TCU as went manual pump a long time ago. Stumbled across a TCU in aussie and got one shipped over. Re: Modifying a Runva winch?
I wouldn't bother converting an electric winch to run of another form of drive. Get a PTO winch unit. Typically electric winch brakes are a weak point. PTO does not need a brake... The worm takes care of that. Easy to freespool too. Good unit is the Novawin from Force4, Has freespool built in.. Just...

Do a pressure test of the water system and confirm once and for all if you have a leak...
I would just keep driving it until it shows more definitive symptoms.
Could have a slight leak in the water pump seals.
Hose could be slightly loose...
Could even be the heater in the cab....

In the Landcruiser the pto takeoff is in the transfercase....
I have heard thru the grapevine that there is a surf / hilux transfercase which sports a pto but it was just a whisper...
Never seen one in the flesh.

Re: how to get rid of spiders / cockroachers from your car
My only thought is if you know anyone with an empty transport container, drive in and set off a flea/ bug bomb or similar and close the container door.
Or failing that you can get huge plastic bags from places like Blackwoods (called fish bags) same thing envelope car and set off a bug bomb.

Back to the old school setup the early cruisers had... before all this vac electrical stuff.
Much simpler..

If it's the same setup as the vac operated 70 series units then you can remove the vac part and it will leave a hole with a rod sticking out. You can buy a seal to fit around the rod and also in the cavity of the housing. I did this to a mates trailer queen and also made a backing plate to hold the ...
