Re: POLL - WD21 owners: Steering mod that worked best for yo
It won't let me do the poll.... But, Mine is 3+ inches suspension lift, and 2wd mod with idler brace and reinforced idler. The 2wd mod is ok, it has longer tie rods than stock, so can handle a bit more travel, but there seems to be a small alignment issue, um, toe out on turns seems to be off. I hav...

There's far too many replies and too little time to read 'em all, but this is my take on it. Keep the site for sure, this is definitely one of the better sites out there. Keep the dickheads under control, but a bit of good natured ribbing makes it a bit more fun, as long as it doesn't detract from t...

That makes sense, when I made My terrano one it was the same...you need it to allow the panhard to fit into the wider part of the bracket.

Sorry for taking this a bit off topic...but is this really all that's required? It bolts straight up to the bolt pattern on the rear of the box?

Re: Show us some terrenos that have lift kits
I priced up doing the same as mine (without the upper arms) for a customer and it came to around $8000. wheels/tyres/body and suspension lift/shocks etc. Roughly 4" lift. You can run 4" on the Terrano without too many problems. We've also done a couple of L400's, they are around $5-5500 wi...

Re: raw shock issues only 1000km old
Basically 2 things could have gone wrong, either the nut on the end of the shaft has come off, which is an assembly problem (not all of them are staked) or it's broken from over-extension (very rare a shock bottoms the piston before it runs out of shaft travel). If you pull it out and pull the shaft...

Re: Ball Joint Spacers
The confusion is pretty black and white mate. Also I'm sure Mitsi's (and all other trucks) have different front suspension and torsion setups, Toyota are the only make (or maybe it's just Surf's?) with a particular setup, can't remember what the diff was though, might have been which A arm the tors...

Like I said, not done a surf, but we've done a couple of L400 mitsi's that have the same setup, and they come up the thickness of the spacer. Try it, I'll be interested to see what you find, and if someone could explain HOW it can give more lift, I'll be more than happy to listen  quote from i...

Re: Ball Joint Spacers
No. A 1" spacer cannot give a 2" lift without touching the torsions. :? How the f**k can it unless you have your torsions loaded against the bumpstops before you start???? All you are doing is spacing the hub assy down 1", so 1" lift. Simple. But try it, and post your resu...

Re: Ball Joint Spacers
Not real familiar with the surf, but some things apply to anything so.... With the torsions on the top arm like the surf has, a 1.5" spacer will lift it 1.5" It will however increase the droop by 1.5"X whatever the ratio is from the inner bushes to the bumpstop to the outer bj. Which ...

Re: pto winch housing welding..... can it de done?
I see what you are getting at but dissagree. Those bolt mounts on the front are designed to be part of the winch mount. Thus they will counter some of the torque loading generated by the winch load via the drum and worm box. As such these bolts will see a tensile load in countering the torque. (See...

Re: pto winch housing welding..... can it de done?
You are going down the right track by taking this repair to a good engineer. The winch casting will see quite high loads when in use, and a failure under load could have serious consequences. Maybe, but the loading is being pulled into the break rather than trying to pull it apart. A half decent we...

The commy motor is smaller and has lots more power than the vg30. It would be worth the effort to get it in there.

We charge $120+ to weld a crack. I has to be done properly tho, I've re-fixed many that haven't been...and if you don't straighten it as well it'll prolly crack again....
