Re: Playdoh exocage main hoop and rear tray concept

My advice would be don't use the MANZ tube for an exo. Being only 2.6mm wall it might bend to easily when banged on trees etc. The Steam pipe is 3.8mm wall from memory. Also you will need a much more expensive bender to bend MANZ tube (my $400 bender does the steam pipe perfect but ripples the MANZ ...

Re: Help Needed Apply Within...

I spot weld with C02 (apparently give better penetration than argsheild) My understanding is the opposite way around bro. They put the argon in Argoshield to help stabilize the arc and give better penetration (specifically at lower amp settings, in mild steel) The combo of argon/carbon dioxide will...

Re: 1jz hilux getting hot!!!

Well you are going to have to compromise on something. Looks like there is a bit of space such that you could remake your piping and fit a wider rad. Chop the cross member out and remake something such that you can sit the rad lower and fit a taller rad in. (I did this in my Lux, even had half the r...

Not for a while, they were $70 odd last time I bought some (two years ago maybe), but still bloody good value when it includes the tie rod.

Wonder if the driver is actually a wheeler? More importantly I wonder if he is blissfully ignorant or if he is just an arsehole.

Re: ID these Steering parts

Yes, Hilux arms fit on the 40 knuckles (well, they fit on Prado knuckles and other 70 series knuckles. 40s and 60s can be converted to disc using Hilux parts so I would certainly bet Hilux arms would bolt to the 40 knuckle) However, I don't think that is a cut Hilux J arm. If it is, it sure looks li...

Re: Do I need a steering damper? 80 Series

Is there a way to check panhard vs drag link lengths? Sorry, I may have confused the issue. Unless you have chopped/welded factory panhard mounts you will not have any more bump steer than when it left the factory. You can ignore this bit if you like. Bump steer being the amount that your wheels mo...

Can you remember what model Landcruiser you got the steering arms off? I can't remember what ones we used for ours. No, but I do have a set of spare brand new Toyota genuine ones that never ended up going with the truck. Could dig em out and sell them to you, or they can continue to waste space in ...

I did what you did with your Zuk, (landcruiser steering arm on the front and low pinion diff) but I also made my front drive shaft out of sch 40 steam pipe, 42mm od from memory. Never had any issues with it.

Re: Do I need a steering damper? 80 Series

But toe doesn't fix loose feeling and bump steer. Neither does a steering damper. The loose feel has to be some kind of a geometry problem (not enough caster? but as you say, progress has been made here) If you are all factory geometry (with regard to panhard vs drag link lengths and mounting posit...

Re: Yes another tyre question please help

My 2 cents. From what I have read/heard the Creepy's have a stupid solid carcass and dont bag on lighter trucks. Not sure if your 70 would be heavy enough to make them work. The Maxxis Treps (in 37") seem to be a better bet. They do them in a 35" as well but I believe that is only radial, ...

They were wanting to see how much worse it was facing backwards but were surprised to get a better power figure. Don'...

No matter what locker etc you decide upon, my advice would be don't waste your money on a Toyota LSD. I changed from both open to both LSD and could only just tell a difference (offroad). The auto locker that I put in the back however, night and day. So good. Only place I found it to be a bit tricky...

Well, were you happy running 31's at Taupo?
or do you think you might like to run something bigger for offroad racing?

If you are happy with 31's then it sounds like 4.7's is your answer.

But im worrying that it will be too low in high box for events like t100 and other off road racein...
