Re: Vitara/Escudo advice

LWB usually better on hill climbs and climbing up ledges that sort of thing. LWB Vit is still shorter than a SWB Safari. A SWB Safari is bumper to bumper pretty much the same length as a 4 door Surf. The Vits are a good solid 4x4 with good suspension design for a IFS truck. Suspension is easy as to ...

Land Cruiser kzj71/78 parts

Hey folks, due to changing jobs and loosing my company supplied wheels, I've had to join the real world and get myself a daily driver. Managed to finally get my hands on a SWB KZJ71 Land Cruiser. 1kz-te powered, with the R151f manual trans. 200k on the clock and and has pretty much sat in a shed unu...

Hey, can either of you guys tell me what Turb the LD28 should have??

It looks like a T3 or T4 flange in the mani, but it's only a baby diesel so it needs the right turb otherwise it will be laggy and work in the wrong part of the rev range.

We have half the Turb

Especially at the moment too. Prices have gone through the roof!!! This old girl was in the early teens $$. The only reason I would be selling a 1990's Terrano would be to buy a 1990's 4wd with a solid front axle. Terrano has the best of the Jap brands in IFS trucks for engine/running gear longevity and strength (it's a TD42 truck engine minus 2cyl), suspension performance, vehicle dimensions (wheelbase e...

That's how they run some of the Tracks in Aus. You apply for your permits before you leave, or drop into a designated place if you can't before you leave. You carry the permit with you when your on the track. But just like the Murawai online permits, who can afford to take on the responsibility to p...

You say that, but nz4wda and local council walked away from Thompsons track because it was to "complex" and it's kept open and drivable by those who use it now. There's dudes up there everyday rolling their trucks off the sides of the slips and burning out stolen cars ;) ;)

Re: Noise at 2000-2200 rpm

We have a Troopy in Aus with a 1hz in it. It's got a similar sort of harmonic vibe at those revs when not under load. Put it under load and it's not as pronounced. It's a harmonic vibration produced by the rotating parts of the engine vibrating at a particular frequency at a certain rpm. It varies f...

With wheel shimmy, which is what you describe, the very 1st place to look every times is ALWAYS the panhard rod bushes. Especially if they are horrible red nolathane bushes. Pull those out and burn them. Go to Nissan and get genuine rubber bushes that will last another 150,000km and 30 years with ou...

Re: AT/M, MT, Tyre Options, Safari.

If ya looking for 33 x10.5, good luck.

Closest you will get is 255 85 R16, which are available in both Maxxis 762 and BFG a/t and Km2 m/t.

I rate both those tyres, Maxxis wear well for price, BFG m/t wear even better, but price is $$$$$?????

255 85 r16 = 33.2 X 10.5 roughly.

It will be the ECU, there's a place in Nelson that repairs them. Someone will remember the name, I cant find it.

Either way, those symptoms are exactly those of a dying ECU, and you can get the ecu repaired and returned back to you for a few hundred dollars with in a week.
