Re: what chassis can go under a ln106?

I have seen a hilux cab on a swb Prado chassis.... Coils all round. Not sure if body mounts on chassis needed moving.
And I also have a rolling swb chassis....for sale with live tags....

Re: Low stall torque converters

Will probably get a HD towing pack from Aussie. They do them all the time and have the knowledge.
Will drop stall about 500 which will be good. And tighten it all up... As mines is slushy and almost undrivable currently. Well on the open road. hahaha

Low stall torque converters

Hi All

Anyone have any real life experiences using a low stall converter in their diesel powered trucks?
Looking at getting one from Aussie for my Landcruiser Prado. As the factory one is struggling with more torque from engine mods.

Cheers

Re: LJ78 vs ln65/106 diff parts

Unless the cvs are playing up , leave them alone. They are stronger than the hilux versions.
I used a kit from Terrain Tamer for my swivel hubs (Don Kyatt in AKL) only a few things different due to being a Jap import.
Thats the axle seal in the housing. Otherwise everything else fitted fine.

Re: looking at getting a cert

Save yourself some grief and find a cert and talk them thru your mods. Only they will know what they want to see and how its to be done. There is lots of knowledge on here from the guys and gals but the word from the horses mouth (cert) will be the only ones you will want to hear. Here is a link to ...

Re: Winch isolator

Chasing stray currents is reasonably straight forward. Just need an multi-meter. You can get some that click over your power cable. Then read what its drawing with truck off.... And then start unhooking items one at a time and see if the amps drop. Normally you have a clock powered... and maybe car ...

Re: Winch isolator

You shouldn't have any battery draw when a winch is installed. You have another issue... Most winches can draw more than 500 amps....especially on a hard pull. I get the idea you have two batteries. One for startling and an aux for the winch? and a battery iscolator to charge the main battery first ...

Vent for cab

Hi all After my recent bum chop on my Prado, one of the side effects is that now there is no rear air vent letting air flow out, When the last door is closed it has to act against air pressure... Also the air gets stale when driving. Naturally I could open a window but when its raining or cold.....h...

I check my oil after it been running for a bit. ... ... That way the oil in the galleries haven't drained back.
If you feel you have cooked the oil, change it. Its pretty cheap compared to an engine rebuild.

Auto dropped, pump checked out good. Clutches all good. Oil all good. Pulled valve body apart and had some silver looking oil in 2 spots in the galleries. Looks like the oil has been bypassing the gasket. Clean and New gaskets.. Put together with new oil and now drives much better. It's got bite now...

If its all bolt on OEM stuff no cert is required. Ref http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/suplementary_information/LVVTA_LVV_Cert_Threshold.pdf Page 13. If you start cutting holes in floor pan or making new support frames / mounts then cert is required. Or you start pissing around with the brake syste...

Re: A340 / A343 auto issues

Just checking...are you familiar with the three stages of sliding the torque convertor on to the A340 shaft? ( first spline, second spline, then the notches?) Yup fully aware of that one.... The trans won't actually bolt up to the engine if its not snuggled into place. This auto has been in and out...

Not that deep yet. But my Alt in the 1KZ is pretty high ish... Never had issues with old one. And if its made the same it should have the plastic cover over the brushes inside. That helps keep the crap out.
