Runva 9500 Q, no load line speed of 15.3m/min

Even my old warn xd9000 has a line speed of 11.5m/min (paid $1350 for it 10 yrs ago!)

Re: Novawinch

Downside to most of these winches is they are so dam slow with no load. Pull forever though. Pity about the backup from the other brand as on paper the Q seems to be a winner.

265/75 are only a 32x10.5. You need to compare a 255/85 or a 285/75 to a 33x10.5 x15

As mudlva said, it's for brakes and also better road manners (less sidewall to squirm)

Re: New 4x4 overland blogging/tracking website

I have had a good look around but I feel I am missing something - is it designed to be uploaded by an app (such as from my iphone) and then able to be read by anyone (such as family many miles away) on a desktop/laptop through a normal web browser? [Edit - I downloaded Chrome and the Nomads 'app' on...

About 8:15 the next morning we decided we would hit the road, the traffic was slow just getting onto the motorway but once we were on and across to the inside lane it was flowing pretty well really and we made good time. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/glen_nz/North%20Island%20trip/IMG_1534_zp...

You missed the Motu Rd! Yea I know, we sat at the turn off at Matawai for 5 minutes and ummed and ahhed but then time got the better of us, we would have been half dark to dark and thought what the heck, we will come back to the area again. I wanted to do the drive you mentioned in the other thread...

Looks cool, I'll have a play around later. That sort of thing I would have used, family were interested in where we were as well and they could have looked it up.

What the ranger has over them all is simply refinement and ride quality/handling.

Downside is physical size, seeing over the bonnet, lifting something into the deck etc

North Island tiki tour/ramble/yarn/bedtime story/bore

This isn't strictly a 4WD trip report but who cares. On June 25th we left home of Gore and headed north. The farm was set with instructions for three different people to look after at various stages, feeding dogs etc. We pretty much just drove the South Island straight up and it was a touch over 900...

Air compressor

My ARB compressor has finally got tired and I want to replace it, what are people using these days that
a) can pump up 4 x 33 inch tyres without a rest from 15/18 to 35
b) not take all day to do it
c) not break the bank

Re: Alternator issues

Is yours a 3.5 dvk? If so its a fact of life, that's the beauty of the 3.0 engine, far better placement. Mine costs me a couple of hundy every year or two, got pretty good at getting it out anyway. If you have a body lift it can be moved and swapped with the power steering pump with a bit of work bu...

Tomorrow we are heading north again and to Ahipara. I'd be getting a new mechanic for those generalisations! I have friends with prados with well over 300k, closer to 400, very common for Utes to have a heap of km on them. It sounds like the mechanic doesn't like Pajeros as the 3.2 is about as bomb proof as they come but have a fuel pump issue at usu...

Dual Battery tray I didn't really like the look of anything that you could buy except the ARB one and it was too expensive so I made my own. The original fiberglass tray was cracked and broken at the tie down point so I binned it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/glen_nz/Big%20Paj/IMG_1360_zpsu4...
