One of my clients has this stashed in his shed... So ####### sweet. Please pm me his asking price, assuming engine is original, matching numbers Likely not for sale, couldn't say about matching numbers. He has all the bits, windows, canopy etc. It's pretty rubbish to drive :p I haven't tried taking...

De-laminated brake pads!
So it was quite a while ago that I fixed this, but the FL inside brake pad had completely de-laminated, so it was metal-on-metal! on my 6 month old NEW rotor!

My old man has had various odd-jobs (repairs to alloy boat and trailer) done by Thomas Rahn in Howick, pretty tidy work. Not sure if he does 4x4 but worth a call anyway. Other shop I'd try would be Cascade Automotive, Pakuranga.

Grab a multimeter, test for voltage once black-red, once black-yellow when the key is turned, it should show up voltage for a few seconds (while the plug "glows") then drop out.
I don't know why the dash light should be unreliable as it would be doing the same thing, surely?

WTB: Summer Wheels 33x10.5, Safari
Hey, looking for a set of A/Ts or even H/Ts for the Safari, on rims (steel, maybe OEM)
I Would really like a 33x10.5 r15 or equivalent 16" size, but could deal with 31s.
Anyone have a set they've swaped out and want to sell? Waikato-Northland.

Re: Sound proofing, opinions/experiences
I looked into this a while ago but shelved it. There is a 2 pack rubberised paint (at about $100/lt) which is supposed to be the biz. Marine carpet isn't very sound-absorbent. Mass is your friend for sound deadening, there is some ashphalt-backed flashing tape available which would be tedious, but e...

Should my wiring diagram look like this: Battery's--->fuse box--->accessories fuse box: So a positive wire to the power, and the fuse box earthed to the chassis. >> The fuse box does not need to be earthed, it protects only the hot side. It can be a good idea to have a common ground (a bolt/wire fro...

Lachlan pretty much covered it, but is there a reason you cant just take it for a drive every couple of months?
If it's outside I'd put a cover over it, spray some diesel into all the sills/gutters/arches to fend off rust.

The other option, if it's not the cogs that are stuffed, would be a manualised valve body. Theres a crowd in Australia that does them for about $1500. Cheaper and easier, bolt-on fix.

Re: Turbo timer wiring
It sounds as though the TT is wired into a relay on the main hot feed (fuel solenoid, if diesel). Unfortunately with so few wires (red=control/out, blu=on/trigger in, ylw=memory, is my guess) your options are probably limited, but I *think*, if I've got it straight in my head, running a hot wire in ...

Don't. But if you must, very thirsty, not that grunty. Trans is GM4L30e (a relative of the Commodore trans) if it's not a factory 7 seater, there's more to it than finding seats and belts. The boot floor is different. Others may love the isuzu v6 but I hate it. Just about any other v6 is better IMH...

A multimeter will be your friend and take a bit of guesswork out of it. a) the batteries could be shot and suffering low internal resistance - most auto shops will have a load tester that will tell you this. b) assuming batteries and alternator ARE good, a fusible link would be the next place to loo...

Buying advice: 1992 3.2 v6 petrol Bighorn Auto
Im on my phone at the moment so too lazy to do a forum search. Wagon has been garaged maybe 5 years due to "only needing a fuel pump" Looks tidy. on HTs so probably never been abused. My concerns: petrol; are these known to be thirsty or explodey?; auto, good box? needs aftermarket cooler?...

Y62... Any Use??
I'm very much of the school where "if you can't fix it with a hammer, it's probably no f*ing use" and I had to laugh when I read a review of the Y62 Patrols: Apparently they "have trouble engaging 6th gear below 120km/h" Which is a shame, because I often find myself down the back...

It has been suggested its only worth 2-3K but you see them on trade me for 4-5k, usually dealers Dealers on TM are dreamers. I've been watching one relist a saf for about 5 months, apparently they're "hard to come by now" and "wont be found at a better price" (an unmodded, sagge...

Unless there's a known solution for the vehicle, my general advice would be to pull the cluster and re-solder all the connections on the daughterboard. Check for wires around the steering column that are pulling, pinching or rubbing.

Higher CCA rating = better. I'd be looking for 600 at least. The other way batteries are rated is amp-hours (Ah) but I'm not sure how relevant those ratings are for winching, since they're based on a slow draw over 20 hours. "Deep cycle" will take a greater depth of discharge without damag...

Tralier Half Axles - Dura Torques
I have an old trailer chassis I'm wanting to build up into a ~1.5T work trailer, it had hydraulic disc braked dura torques, mounted forward, with small shocks on a tower at the front. I had it looked at by Northland Towbars in town (after i'd cut off the towers and shocks) and he reckons the dura to...
