F.y.I you only need to turn the crank shaft 120 degrees at a time , 3 times Cylinders are in paired, test 1-6. 2-5.and 3-4. The mark on the harmonic balancer will denote the no1 piston is at tdc....no6 is also at tdc but the valve timing is 180degrees opposite to number 1 ...one piston on compressi...

Corolla Does any more really need to be said? Like any brand, if they're well looked after they'll give good service. Unlike any other brand, a pre-2000 carrolla will suffer all manner of abuse and refuse to die. Perhaps a toyota forum, rather than an offroad 4x4 one, would net you more experience.

Not LSD tho.

Yep I'm going to get D21 lsd, or a locker, just wondering if upgrade the original or do it in a Y61.
So the Y61 are twin pots too? Sounding like the way to go.

Y61 calipers won't bolt to a Y60 diff, bolt spacings are different. TB42E twin pot calipers will fit and work extremely well, I had them on mine.....like hens teeth to find though!. Y61 diff will bolt straight in, approx 40mm wider overall. I did this conversion to my GQ 12mths ago. Try and get the...

Ok I'll get the injectors looked at then. Is there a way of doing the ECU relearn myself or does it need to be a mechanic with a special gizmo? The heat function is nothing to do with the radiator, it's a preheat of some sort which helps it idle better in cold conditions, whethers it's glow plugs o...

Y61 front axle into Y60?

I want more traction up front (LSD) and uprated brakes, I've read that the Y61 have stronger kingpins and twin pot calipers etc, so wondering how easy it is to make a Y61 front axle fit the Y60? The alternative is TB42 calipers and a D21 LSD into my existing axle but that needs different rotors? and...

Re: Nissan Terrano 2.7 rough idle and bad economy

Always with automatics I suspect the box/ clutch first! Check the fluid for a start. Resetting the ECU/ TCU and letting it relearn may help. Other than that, if injectors haven't been done, do them. If you crack the feed lines while it's running, and one cylinder doesn't make a difference, you will ...

Re: Best place to buy synthetic winch rope?

I'm also interested in this. I have heard tell that boating shops/ chandlers stock dyneema (or an unbranded equivalent) at a fraction of the cost from 4wd shops.
I know nylon rope works well in tow/snatching applications, but might bind up on a winch drum under load?
Let us know what you end up with.

Re: Electric Window Fault

Not specific to the car, but you should be able to trace the wiring colours from the harness at each end. if there are 3 pins at your motor then it will be GND, FWD/up and REV/down. If only two it's a bit trickier as the polarity is swapped for fwd/rev, if it IS two wire, then the issue you describe...

What was the actual WOF failure? I was failed on "tread outside guards" with x10.5s on 8" rims. Currently running 33x10.5 on 7" rims, -19, with flares. Goodrich's 32x11.5s minimum recommended is 8"w, but the 33x10.5 suits 7" So you'll have to look at the manufacturers s...

Just seeking input from anyone who knows, or has actually done work with n/a TD42. I will do anything to this motor except turbo it. It sounds to me like an earth leak somewhere, this could be in the starter as sugested, the other likely culprit is the alternator. Clutch is a bleed line - I guess not really necessary but easier than bleeding from below. Vacuum tank is because the clutch also has vacuum boost like the brake. Is it really worth the effort of moving / removing everything? There's plenty of space, and "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" ...
