Re: Poulter River,Canterbury
Pretty obvious to find - left onto the grass/mud track just before you drop down to the Poulter bridge across to Mt White Stn. Track's OK for a single well set up truck with some self recovery gear. Minimum 2 trucks if you're on 31" AT's or not so sure. Mostly good farm tracks but the odd soft ...

Re: Alexander mine/powerhouse track opened up.
....i suspect most of the equiupment there is actually the Snowy River battery No the snowy battery is down on the snowy river near Waiuta. There was a water race down to that battery from the Alexander. This mine is the Alexander mine which had its own battery up in the Alexander River. Nothing le...

Re: 93 1KZ Prado, thoughts?
My lwb prado flexs really well. Same setup as wjw. The key is what kelvi said - some lift kits springs are just really stiff (for heavier load carrying). You want long and SOFT for off road. (but thats shit for on road - its all a compromise) I've got dis-connects on the front sway bar. Rear sway ba...

Re: Alexander mine/powerhouse track opened up.
Hey Al We did another trip in at Q/Bday. In & out as a day trip. Walked right up the ridge up past that big brake wheel we saw - up to 800m (just about the top of the hill) and found the old mine shaft. Tracks getting better - still min 33's. Has to park up a safari on 31's and Terano on 32's. J...

Re: Oil pressure 1kz te
Thanks for the input. I've talked to a few people with 1KZ and seems some do this but others don't :? Its the orange light, and the pressure (factory) gauge still reads ok even when the orange light comes on. I was a bit suss on if the dash pressure guage was accurate enough so I'll get an aftermark...

Re: 04/05 June
Had a couple of good days at Reefton. Got up Alexander Ck, did a walk up the ridge and found the old mine pits (with help of prospecting drill crew). Three bent trucks for the day :( - bloody good not to be me rubbing the stump this time! Did half of Green hut track on Sun but it was pretty s...

Rock slider fabricator in Chch
Hi
I have zero ability to build my own sliders. - Any recommendations for a fabricator who can do a good job. Prefer sth/west Chch but not a major.
Or anyone got a decent solid set for sale for LJ78 LWB Prado.
Cheers
Steve

Oil pressure 1kz te
I drive 93 Prado with 1kz te. 150ks (ex import so could be 250k's who knows :?: ) Often get oil warning light :( on steep downhills (not uphill or sidling). Even just going down the hill from home from cold start sometimes. Oil is always right up to the top mark. Seems to get worse as it gets near o...

Re: Which 4wd and club choice in Chch?
Hi I spent 4 years using a '96 Prado on "easy" club trips. Great family wagon. Heaps of space. Good fuel consumption. Nice to drive on the road and with a set of good mud tyres it suprised a few people where it could get to with a bit of careful pointing. Later in the piece I raised the su...

Did worsleys.. took out the passenger side step at the first rock garden trying to get up the back of the rock over on the right side. Good effort whoever got up there. that'll be turoa, hosehustler, petefj40 and niblik that took similar lines over that. cant remember if kbjj both...

Re: "2nd" tyres - recomendations
Cheers wjw & sig. Do you do 3hr+ road trips on the X plys or trailer them? I briefly had use of a VX on 35 creepys which were OK on the rd but thats a hell of a lot more truck holding them down. I don't want to end up with wheels I never use 'cause they're too rough on the drive over to be worth...

Re: LOCKRITE DIFF LOCKER..are they ok in the front
I've got a lockrite in the front of my prado. Offroad its fine. On road with front hubs out its unnoticable. But on road in 4wd eg ski field, it does make the steering pretty busy. It understeers then kicks pretty quickly to oversteer. Not really bad but not relaxing driving.

"2nd" tyres - recomendations
I'm driving 93 Prado LWB running 33x12.5x15 BFG MT's. Looking at getting a 2nd set for harder off road use. BFG's work well in canterbury gravel rivers but the most common tyre failures I've seen are ripped sidewalls, either on alpine scree or roots/rocks in west coast bogs. :( Alpine stuff I think ...
