Re: CO2 tyre fill system?
Just tested the system. Aired a front tyre (33 inch) down to 15psi. Took 52 seconds to air back up to 36psi but that included pausing often to check the pressure as the tyre visibly inflates fast as you watch it. Reckon once I'm used to it should be down to about 45s. My Supercheap rattle gun undid ...

Re: CO2 tyre fill system?
thats a cool idea and great for portability, have you worked out how many fills this will do at your size tyres? just curious about the economics of it There are various tables put out by the manufacturers should be around 30 33inch tyres each going up 20psi. I figure around $1 per tyre given a fil...

That would be awesome and make for an easy upgrade. Will grab a regulator nut from BOC.

Re: CO2 tyre fill system?
Have given up on the Aussie crowd I was trying to source a regulator from so bit the bullet and ordered a regulator and hose kit from Powertank in the States. Fingers crossed either the inlet stem is standard thread into the regulator body or I can just swap the nut out. Will update when bits arrive.

Re: CO2 tyre fill system?
There is a guy on ebay who sells the reg and hose/fittings. I'll find his user name when I get home. Then you just need to get a bottle here, I can sort the bottle if you need one. Brilliant many thanks, I already have a bottle. Home brew 4.5kg from Harvey Norman of all places. Looks like I may be ...

Re: CO2 tyre fill system?
What about using nitrogen ? quite good in circuit racing and drifiting as the pressure does not increase with tempreature etc and its cheap to fill , I have a bottle for shocks with regs etc but can be used for tyres Liquid CO2 has about three times the gas volume stored as nitrogen so one tank of ...

Re: CO2 tyre fill system?
I used a CO2 setup for a few years, was a bottle used in those pre mix coke machines. Only reason I used it was I got free fills.... But stopped as the bottle was taking up room, and the nagging thought of a bomb in my truck did not go down too well. Remember it is at about 700 psi and is full of l...

Re: CO2 tyre fill system?
Howdy is anyone running a CO2 tank to fill their tyres? We can't get the US Powertank here but there is an Ozzy Air-Up brand that has a high flow regulator. Locally looks like only Cigweld make a regulator that comes close to a high enough flow for fast air ups and running air tools but this maxes ...

Howdy and welcome. Canterbury Rec 4wd Club is big and active, they even have a few Hiluxs :) Only point that they do different is have a 33 inch max tyre size but if that suits you then it is a great club. They have a meeting 7.30pm at the Papanui RSA tomorrow (Wednesday) so come along and check it ...

Welcome :) Yes heaps of river beds, if you are after a longer drive you could head up the Eyre River to Oxford. Lots of driving in the Selwyn, prob pay to head upstream from the highway if by yourself. Would highly recommend checking out some of the Canterbury 4wd clubs. Lots of knowledge, access an...

Thanks Dieselboy & Tycho Trucked, Just checked the weather for next weekend, looks like a few thunder storms on the Fri, so we will prob drive the valley tomorrow instead. Tycho, is the route ok to drive solo? Yeah fine through to Quail Flat solo and OK to Goose Flat solo if no rain. It is a bi...

Re: Clarence Reserve 7-9 Feb
A nice area, we went in over 18/19 Jan. Track is good through to Quail Flat but the last 12km to Goose Flat hasn't seen any maintenance in the last couple of years. Still an easy drive but would be interesting in the wet. Well worth the short detour into Black Spur hut as you go past.

Start at Birdlings Flat and drive across the causeway (as long as it has not been removed to open the lake to the sea). The gravel in the middle can be a little soft. If playing a lot on the gravel air down or have another vehicle for a tow. Some great views along the coast as you climb so take a co...

Re: Day trips around Canterbury
Hi Waipara can be fun, if not too much water can drive down stream from the highway bridge to the beach and then north to the cliffs for a look. Can then head back along the beach past the Waipara and back up the Kowhai for a nice loop. Alternatively head upstream from the bridge and I usually bug o...

From memory I think I once worked out that a litre of air going from 60 degrees to ten would contract by about 150ml so that is a decent sized bellows. I went with extensions

That's my Jeep in the pics :). Great antenna, only thing I've changed is swapped out the blue cap for a heatshrink cap as the blue one came off when water blasting. It is 1/2 wavelength ground plane independent so does not need to be mounted in middle of roof or bonnet. Short antenna does not get ca...

Congrats on the truck. I like the Waipara river around the motorway bridge as a practice venue. Can't get into too much trouble but enough soft stuff to keep it interesting. No horrible Mak silt either

GME do a budget 2w handheld for about $90 from memory TX670. Comes with remote speaker mic and charger. Good battery life due to its auto power save feature.
