Re: Off road trailer build with patrol wheels...stub axles??

What size tyres on the patrol? If they are 33’s then the trailer will be huge. I built a camper and was going to run 33’s in it to save carrying a spare but it was just going to be to high to be sensible to get in and out of and still tow nice. So I stuck some 225/75/16 off a Hilux on it, I think th...

Re: anyone been up mount greenland lately

Went up 3 weeks ago. It's in the best condition I've seen it for years right now. The miners have graded the track to just past the grey bog which is probably halfway up. All the difficult stuff at the start is gone and barely reconisable now. However it's still a good drive and worth a visit. The ...

So you've got 35's and a 6 inch lift really means you've got a 2 inch lift - those 35's must be shredded!!!

If your a mud hunter a manual is no more help to you and they have a clutch release bearing to fail when it's full if shit that the auto doesn't.
Given the auto is the same trans as in the prado/surf/Cherokee/Lexus you should be able to find info on how to manualise it somewhere.

Re: Farm land usage for 4wd events

Hi Pete, I asked that exact question of my worksafe inspector when we had an organised visit. My question was, can I still get some friends around and set up a track in a paddock for a time trial and not be held liable. The answer was yes providing it was not a workplace at the time. I can move my s...

Re: South Canterbury 4wd Access and the impressions of other users

That last photo doesn't even have 4WD tracks in it! Mt Buster diggings has been a place where people have drive on the old diggings for years and years. Although I don't condone it, they are not really doing any harm there. I do find FMC's attitute to 'other' users pretty poor and it has been like t...

Thanks Clint, mine is a 41 waeco so probably similar weight. What have you done for some locking mechanism to keep it open and closed? I am allergic to rattles! You also mention it sits on its base, you mean the tray sits on the base of the drawers? I guess you need a base plate to help strengthen r...

I sorted my LN106 cold start issues with a new earth at the battery, all seemed right but one day I got even more sick of it not starting when cold so started to replace everything. New battery terminal sorted it.

Yep, all over all the forums I follow, I reckon they will give in and back pedal but the damage is done. Thing is, PB has often been bordering on unusable with the ads it runs and is very resource heavy. Good riddance. Pity about all the broken forums throughout the world. Mind you, the rate forums ...

Cheers, I have got it fixed. Rebuilt both ends and new knobby for pitman arm. Getting pitman arm off was hardest, had to take sterring box out and hit it with a fbh. Much nicer to drive in the paddocks now.

I did before we bought our new vehicle, then I thought it's essentially an 80 series with no turbo and a weaker gearbox so would need money spent on it to be suitable for me so ditched the idea. Look good in gxl spec too.

LN106 Steering play

My Hilux has an epic amount of play in the steering and it is mostly coming from the link arm. As I am using it I have not pulled it apart but what do i need to fix it? It looks like there is a part pressed into the pitman arm - that piece is moving in the arm. Do i need a new pitman to get the ball...

I was going to do extra cab and had the c pillars lines up but then I took the easy option as the roof at the c pillar was narrower than the b and was going to be more work so I just cut straight down the window line on the swb cab.
