Re: Show us your ......... JEEP

Nice one tycho. What lift are you running, and do you have stock control arms? I went into double black offroads store in Melbourne the other day, good guys to deal with, if only shipping wasn't such a killer. PPM tie rod, best price Melb to Wgtn I could find was $240. The rest I'm taking on as che...

Re: Macetown!!!!!

Dave loves his Mickey Ts. Great tread depth when new, slightly softer than some tyres so will wear relatively quick on road. Dave has a half worn set in storage if anyone keen. 33s but 17 inch rim size.

Re: Howzit from Hawaii!

Update from Queenstown District Council they expect to have the slip cleared from the Macetown track by the weekend. No ice or snow there at the moment. We will look at taking a run in there on Saturday. Jesse, Amy if you guys make it to Queenstown by Saturday we have a couple of spare seats :). My ...

Re: Howzit from Hawaii!

Hi there The Nevis road is closed this time of year. We tried to get into Macetown a few weeks ago but the was a big slip that had blocked the track, I doubt that the slip has been cleared at this time of year. We are a little bit limited at this time of year due to tacks being closed over the wint...

Re: Sheffield 2013...

Would be a shame to see this event cancelled, at the moment only 12 entries. A lot of people are looking forward to attending as spectators and I guess primarily this is a fund raiser and public entertainment. I know I'm looking forward to marshalling. Who would enter tomorrow if the courses were re...

Re: Howzit from Hawaii!

Ill be heading to Queenstown over 16-18 August along with another Jeeper. Was thinking about a run into Macetown or through the Nevis Valley.

Nick any recommendations for this time of year?

Let me know if this works out for your timing, maybe we could all hook up with the Shotover 4wd Club

Re: GME Extension Speaker

Weird that they do two different resistance speakers. Do they both have a 3.5mm plug to fit the TX3100? I got a $10 remote speaker from Jaycar. Now also used as a mount for the Ultraguage by pointing it straight up :)

Re: Dana30 truss

how much for that to be made ? The truss kit was US$99 from Artec and the C gussets about US$65 from Artec also. Only very minor grinding to fit around the stabiliser mount. You could install yourself if you are comfortable welding to cast steel- not cast iron. Preheat and slow cool seems to be the...

Dana30 truss

Decided to beef up the Dana 30 an Cs with a truss and gussets. Went with the Artec kit. Was good timing as I needed new hubs/bearings, ball joints (went with Synergy) and unis. Also discovered I needed a new pinion bearing :) Big thanks to Rick and Mike at 4wd Accessories in Chch for the install. UR...

Re: Which Portable GPS Unit

Garmin Nuvi 500 will do topo maps from Freshmap. Is a good little unit dust and waterproof. I used to run this in the Jeep but now only use my iPhone and iPad. If you can find a cheap iPad that has 3G (so you get the GPS chip) then this will give you a good sized screen and heaps of choice for GPS a...

Re: GPS Tracker

For basic tracking function you only need to connect the two power wires to a permanently on supply. Some people use the fuel pump interrupt to sound the horn ( useful if you know the vehicle is say in one of several garages). Good luck with the instal.

Some guys were having fun in the Waipara riverbed yesterday. Just drop in near the highway bridge and head downstream. Sooner or latter you'll hit the ocean :). Plenty of soft gravel spots.

Re: Reinventing the wheel: Forget punctures , airless tires

Yeah imagine them full of river stones :). May make a useful spare for road vehicles so no need to worry about keeping the spare aired up. We have a bobcat at work at the moment running these type of tyres. It is working around demolition waste so punctures would be a big issue.

Re: gps,which type?

If you are looking for a vehicle mount type you could try the Garmin nuvi500. Takes an SD card for the Garmin Freshmap topos. Is shower and dust proof also. Not a cheap unit and is fairly old technology now. Some people like the Hema units also. I just use my iPhone and iPad. I like the iPads screen...
