Re: My 80 matey restore

Hmmmm those clear indicators look good.
Be careful when ordering the side ones as there are 3 and 4 prong versions.

Out testing the brakes. It's been some time since it was last out and about, but performing very well.

All the bar work is now in the garage getting a birthday.

Have ordered the clear indicators for the front and sides. Plus new dyneema winch rope, fairlead, UHF pole.

Yeah man, interested in anything. Even looking at JDM cars as the kids are unto those. Have been offered and EVO 1, but would prefer a real 4x4 if possible.

Send me some details when you can.

Looking for the next project

So as my 80 almost comes to an end. It will be time to move it on to a new home. Has been an awesome bus for the family adventures, but as only my son and I are interested and the price of these things keep going up, I cringe when I go out in it. Anyway, I am now on the lookout for my next 4x4 proje...

Yeah, I few of us still around. F Book does my head in, so back to ORE.

I had a browse, but couldn't find anything after 2017. Best bet would be to ask a local club, like these guys...

Restoration of the trim. I've also resprayed all the grill, headlight surrounds, mirrors, and anything else in matching black. Thought I'd keep the theme with the truck body all grey. (Inside doors and jams in 2k grey) Repainted the window section in matching black. All external barwork will also be...

Had some electric issues to also resolve, so I've fixed all those and added the new gauges.
Auto Gauge from Taiwan highly recommended. Never had problems with these.

Also added separate fuse holders to run all the aux toys.

My 80 matey restore

Sick of F Book and the crap on there.... ORE is where things should be at. So, on my plan is the progress of my 80 restoration. It was pretty much a clean family truck and over the years has had some fun in the bush. It's too expensive to keep bashing, so a restoration was on the cards. Here's where...

1HDT AC Crankshaft pulley

The outer pulley ring decided to separate from the crankshaft AC pulley and proceed to smash off most of the radiator fan blades and then roll down the road. Luckily no radiator damage. I understand that the pulley rubber delaminates over time and can separate. Anyone have an AC crankshaft pulley an...

Looks good matey.

I'm wanting to redesign my sliders and have them currently running flat along the sills with 50x50 box and braced back to the chassis. Can you show me yours how yours sit near / against the sill and avoid the seam?

80 Series Electric Window issues

When your electric windows are becoming slow / sluggish to open and close, you will find that the loom to window motor plug starts to blacken inside. the window motor starts to struggle as it's not getting enough power to drive it. Solution: Chop the plug off and hard solder the motor to the loom. W...
