My 80 done that after I put new cvs and brass spindle bushes in
Bad sounding rumble/grinding when not under load
Replaced brass spindle bushes with bearings then sorted
I've still got the old drive plates with brass bushes if there any help

Its all about safety and ass covering these days
Easy way round it is to fit air bag approved bar,after paying cert man getting all the bits and bobs then putting aside a weekend to sort out
But yeah you have options above aswell

I've decided to do the smart but boring thing and hold off on the extra fuel bigger turbo etc
Will jazz up the auto first so can handle it
It's diffently not painful to drive as it is
All thats stopping me is funds
Got a few camping mission lined up over xmas can't wait!

Last outing I bent outer lip on 2 rims from caning it up a hill and hitting the bank with big routes sticking out :| So tyres were going flat over a few days from bead not sealing,dropped them off to get repaired Been setting it up bit better for camping was going to get a roof tent but there to exp...

After a few bogs and water crossing it's looking muddy on the inside

If you go with a option above you'll need a pressure switch and make something to put your locker solenoids into From memory I paid $250ish for the small arb compressor that only does lockers,comes with a nice wiring harness But cheap and easy enough to buy like a supercheap compressor and hard wire...

I know early model 200 series cruisers had a similar issue with 6th gear not engaging till 120km +

Easy option but probably not the cheapest would be fitting air bag approved front bar.

Installed boost tap on the 80 Have set it at 15psi,the over boost dash light does come on for first 1000rpm then goes out I notice it has more top end power but down low is only slightly better. When I first took my truck for cert He failed it on airbags and front seatbelts because they work together? Ended up leaving all in because my truck doesn't have to meet frontal impact laws which I had to prove. Custom front bar was reason for removing air bags,if I had a arb/tjm/xrox etc... front b...

80 has a few trips under its belt now Been typically reliable(Toyota)no issues Few minor hiccups Had a o ring on air line leak front locker 2min fix,top shock bush buggered out and leaky tyre Just done oils filters and trans service Drain diffs to check oil for any nasties Went to woodhill night run...

What's gears you get 4.88 or 5.29? 4.88 gets you closer to standard gearing with 37s 5.29 gears it down more than standard but improves pulling power with 37s I have a 80 with 37s running 5.29s Loaded up with 4 people ,camping gear,full exo,tool etc it still goes ok with standard engine running fact...
