Auto-Lockers (Yes / No)
To Lock or not to Lock... I don't think that's really the right question... In a perfect world, I could justify the cost of Selectable Lockers. But even though the wife has said yes, I cant afford Selectable Lockers... just yet.. But this weekend, it became apparent that I need lockers, of some sort...

If anybody asks, i will 100% say remove the transfer case... Rotated my pinion up to (at a guess) a couple of degrees below the Drive Shaft... As good a gues...

O/d on flats and easy downhills where speed isnt going to get away on you. D on any section where motor starts to labour. Higher rpm gets coolant moving around faster. Gets higher air flow going through motor. Gets engine up to where peak h/p is. Gets trans flowing more oil through cooler. Just rem...

Towing & Auto Gearboxes
Morning All. Quick question about Towing and Auto Gearboxes. As I understood it, you should never tow in overdrive. (my overdrive is quite high geared (1600rpm = 100km / 2002 Grand Cherokee) But DieselBoy's comment over on the 'Auto Gearbox Prejudice' thread about the torque converter generating hea...

Ugly Brake Noise
My WJ Grand (which is somewhat new to me) has very 'Creaky' brakes, and i was after some advise on how to get rid of it... The brakes work fine, even when towing 3 tonnes. They are only creaky when stopping or starting... i.e. very little wheel movement. They don't squeal/creak while driving, apart ...

Re: Home made Jeep modifications
Not pretty, but its funtions well. One of the first things i did when i got the Jeep, was take the back seat out... then, when my carpet got wet, and needed a clean, it never ended up going back in... this did. It stops the recovery gear from rolling around, and was somewhere sturdy to put the highl...

Re: Correct use of a car trailer...
I was going to post yesterday... but work got in the way... More important than lashing is weight position. You need to be really careful to keep the nose weight right. How should the weight be positioned on the trailer...? just slightly forward of center...? (center being the balance point of the a...

Re: Correct use of a car trailer...
Had to recover my Hilux on the weekend via trailer. I Used two ratchet strops on each end around the diff housings pulling in opposite ways to each other (forwards and rearwards). I then used the winch on the ute to attach to the drawbar and compress the front suspension to minimise body roll. Ever...

NZ$101 = 2 x Spicer U Joints in 9 days, including freight.
The jeep is now jacked up with one axle out...
I just need to find some one to press them out and in.
