Tap??
Chuck it in the lathe and single point it. Engineering 101.

I might also suggest that turnbuckles could be found at rigging or marine supply outfitters.

Oh yeah, the D40 narvas have a good bit of pull, not sure about getting 33s on though. Also Not much clearance underneath, much more of a car.
Know a guy (engineer) who runs a fleet of them with no complaints.

Re: 2000+ 4wd ute options.

Y61 Safari. Job done. TB45/8 will be more comfy on road, TD42 for real work. I believe the 4.8 petrols aren't as well matched to the box, (haven't driven) (4spd vs 5) but 4spd auto's not too bad. If you don't need to pull big stuff the TD27 terrano's go good as well, but not sure about post-2000 mod...

Pin punch and hammer works for me. If I want to be precise with a torque wrench I'll weld a couple bits of rod to a socket.
I managed to track down a proper cup socket when I had the L200, can't recall what size it is.
Should be able to be ordered anywhere that stocks Powerbuilt or Teng

if anyone had a cheap pair of OEM links they upgraded and want to donate that would be cool, otherwise i will be getting new bushes from 4wdbits anyway so will just get new links at the same time. Re: Safari GVM

You probably have a pretty good idea already, and I don't know much about this, but double check the terms, because there's CGVM (combined gross vehicle mass - includes towed) GVM, GTM/tare weights, gross laden, and various other measures. If it's plated with a GVM of 2600, they may have given that ...

I don't know if it helps you any, but as far as I know you can't actually break a saf. I've had mine over the weighbridge with a trailer and come out at 6,170, and didn't have any issues starting, stopping or braking. I have uprated the springs and shocks all round (and mine is cut down to a ute). B...

I've just looked under mine - nothing there, from memory there was one at the top under the tower, which kept it captive and stopped it from torquing out.

Re: Radio

My first thought would be rubbish OEM speaker wiring, possibly shorted - it's not that hard to drag new stuff, and I would recommend re-wiring everything (power and earch as well) Second would be the configuration on the head unit - it may switch between Amp-out (line level) and speaker-out. And if ...

The garage in Onerahi, behind Hammer Hardware, are pretty clued up on 4x4 and shouldn't rip you off. Diesel Dave at Maungatapere maybe able to help but he's more a nissan man. I wouldn't try prying against an alloy hub unless I really really had to.
Heat it and hit it.
It's possible someone has siliconed both sides of the hub gasket too. Also check that it's disengaged, then rock the shaft back and forward to see it's not binding.

Someone will come along with more info, but they put quite a few different cogs into the H233b so should be plenty out there. I'm not 100% but: They were in everything from the MQ to the GU series safs; I believe the rear of a navara (WD21 and D22) has a 4.1:1, may have also used 4.6 for their V6 au...

Re: GQ Y60 TD42Problem 2: fuse blowing

Thanks, yes it is a 24v safari. So if the 24v/12v reducer is basically a transformer and the two coils are not directly electrically connected in the same circuit then the short must be between the reducer and the battery (probably after the fuse box I am thinking rather than before it)? unless it ...

Ive always used my home compressor so what is the deal with servo compressors? Are their gauges accurate or should we stay away from them? Re: Tire Pressures.....

A/Ts not so bad for wear, they'll have a pretty flexible carcass and firm tread. Higher pressures will just give you a slightly rougher ride, and put more (though negligible) wear through your shocks and suspension as the sidewalls do less work. When I'm on the road with M/Ts I usually run 40-45psi....

Pulled the bitch back. Cracked all the injectors and cranked it, but probably didn't have to.

DieselBoy, not too sure about that pump thing but I heard it a while ago, it's okay to roll them counter-clockwise but not clockwise...

Nearly rolled Safari, driver's side, issues?

I'll post some pictures for everyone to laugh at later. Basically I was out spotlighting, got to close to the edge of the bank/track, it fell, I fell. I think it's mostly resting on the axles. Engine was still running fine, aprox 45-50• angle. I know that if these go right over on the driver side th...

Re: Amp rating of a Safari's altenator

Agree $1000 is silly money. More amps is good, personally if I replaced it I'd just max out, 120A, this will help anything you ever want to run in future (winch, fridge, very large sound system etc) with the benefit of being under-stressed and running cooler if you're not loading it up. Bosch brand ...
