Sorry mate I wasn't trying to have a go or distort what you were saying, just another stupid rant lol :D 100% re; bearings though, agree.. a bearing and a race is a unique set - period. Easy to skimp but it will bite you - do it properly :D This is probably not a good time to mention that the 1980s ...

it will be bearing failure. while i would not recommend reusing a crush tube, tightening them up a tad is fine. Fair enough, yeah I guess if you know the history of the truck, and how its been treated would be factor. A tiny nudge won't harm it, but do you think that since the bearings are on the w...

Crush tube or bearings. Agree w/ Churchill, the Toyo diffs are very fussy and will blow up if even slightly out of spec.
NEVER EVER re-use/retighten a crush tube! They are designed for a single use.
Best and most widely accepted solution when rebuilding is to replace it with a solid spacer.

I'm wanting the following parts due to converting my WD21 Terrano to a QD32 engine and FS5R30A gearbox ( both from D22 ) Driveshaft from an R20 Diesel Manual. Cross member from an R20 Diesel Manual I'm in Wellington but I don't mind paying shipping. Interesting, when I did the swap to the R30A gear...

Anybody who has that travesty of an IFS system should buy these immediately and install them.
Toyo did a recall on this, they f***d up big time by putting the lower Bj in a constantly state of tension. It's literally trying to pull itself apart every time the suspension is working.

Ok now you've got yourself a good platform, especially the V6 model which has the much stronger front end. And of course one of the most awarded engine families of the 1990s.
This is going to be good.
All I can say is ... sibainmud, crash bandicoot, Stovanovich ,passengerpete,

Are the Jeep Cherokee diffs (Dana 30 etc) able to be run with the front hubs locked constantly ie so the vehicle can be run in constant 4x4 at all times. Cheers. Depends on the transfer case, some had full time, most XJs in nz probably don't. IIRC the V8 ZJ had a full time xfer case (NP23xx) ?? Yea...

For best overall handling it should have a slight rake, ie slightly lower in the front, with the camber set slightly positive. Then when you load it up with passengers, fuel, gear etc it will level out and the camber should normalise at about 1 degree negative.

BTW The reason I have a problem with the whole Defender vs NInety vs One Ten thing is that it is actually unethical and bad business. Paul I wonder if it's caused by the body flexing when off road, undulated ground etc. Did it start at one of the factory holes where wiring loom etc clip in? Surely it would be worth gluing back together even if it's not a wof issue?

The other option is to T out of the oil pressure sender port and route around the back of the block to the turbo . And pull the sump and fit another return port for the turbo oil. Pretty sure theres no such thing as 'NZ spec,' its just rest-of-world spec, NZ market is far too small for them to have dedicated NZ spec. You would be wrong to assume that. There are model accessory and gearing options packages that are agreed by FCA for Australia and NZ markets. Build sheet state...
