Re: drive-shaft problem / ideas?
re-pulled diff out last wekend and re-cut the brackets off the diff, even rolling the diff wont be a feasible option, i will stuff my steering up if it rolls too much and it needed to go alot, its just sitting on a lifting frame off the diff at the moment, il sort the shaft and then weld the bracket...

Re: drive-shaft problem / ideas?
If the unis are binding at ride height you've got a big problem. I doubt you'll find any driveshaft that will cope with that much angle when the suspension is cycled downwards, unless you significantly limit the suspension travel. Maybe a cv joint shaft could handle it? You may need to either lower ...

Meh.. bet none of you would be saying that if it was your broken ass truck getting towed out of the snow and mud  What other options are there? Leave the broken trucks till the snow thaws and the track dries out an hope no one strips it? Beg one of the near by land owners for a tow with a trac...

I know a Gu ute cab bolts straight onto a LWB GQ chassis so I cant see it being too much drama to make the wagon cab fit

Solid mount the bitch  as dmcready said if the cage is solid an the body can flex it'll start cracking, have a look on fb for aus4wd. They specialise in building class 8 and winch patrols. All the truck they build for racing are solid mounted. I got to have a look over a gq full bodied mwb ...

Re: GQ Safari SWB Roof chop down
Why bob tail it? It would be more advantageous and about the same ammount of work to move the axle an guards back extending the wheel base on a swb patrol, and it would look cooler.

Re: cebora mig problem
Some migs have a switch (thats easily bumped) usually marked 2t an 4t IIRC, that can change how the handpiece switch controls the wire feed. 2T is normal operation an 4T starts the wire feeding with a press of the button but wont stop until you press the button again. Good if youre doing really long...

What condition are the old ones in? I pressed mine out welded the new arms up then just pressed the bushes back in. Pretty easy to do without damaging them. If theyre stuffed, the mount shop sells them at a reasonable price

Cheers, it still may get back on the road at the end of the year. I used a brake proportioning valve on my 40 aswell worked really well. Only thing I had was siezed pistons in a rear caliper, that was interesting the first time I tried it out

I think the narrower rear axle on the leaf Gu's and the v8 cruisers is more of a weight carrying thing than anything. Nissan and toyota didn't exactly have offroad performance in mind when they were designing them.

Yeah mines got a big heavy exo. My 40 I built before the black cruiser had awesome brakes with hilux discs all round. It'd lock up 33"s at 100k if I stood on it, kinda scary haha

Have you got any details an pics of how the safari transfer is adapted to the terrano trans? From what I have seen it was never intended to be a ramp queen, more a reliable daily/play truck, an that seems to be pretty much what youve achieved. Dont worry about putting pics up an people thinking they...

Ah cool thanks thats good to know about the pipe.
I found with my bender it makes neater bends with heavier wall pipe, like 4mm.
I see someone on trademe is selling the same bender with an air over hydraullic pump on it now too

[quote="shortylux"]The pipe is 1 1/4 sch40 steam pipe. It's seamless and 42.2mm OD, 3.6mm wall (from memory). Steel and tube product code is 32SL. That bender comes with dies to suit NZ steam pipe sizes. Seams to work good on this stuff. Tried to bend a piece of MANZ tube, not so good. No ...
