Hey guys...I'm trying to help out a Patrol owner. They have fitted a factory pto to their GQ and have some issues, can you have a squizz at the link and maybe help out please? http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/nissan-patrol-gq-y60-ford-maverick-11/pto-unit-gearbox-ideas-those-who-have-them-fitted-them-...

Re: Safari Rear Tow Hook
I've got a pintle on my rear bar, used them on 2 Safari's now and never had any issues. Just took my front/rear bars off for repainting and cleaning & replacing of HT bolts if they needed doing.
I stripped one bolt undoing it so drilled and retapped the thread to suit a 14mm HT bolt.

Re: Electric or PTO winch?
Ok cheers for that gqtrol, I'll probably completely dismantle it next weekend, clean it and reassemble. If I make the effort of pulling the rope off once a month and just giving it a whirl then I shouldn't have any issues after that. Maybe it just needs a GOOD degunk...never had probs with my first ...

Re: Electric or PTO winch?
reasonable idea long as it dos'nt weaken the drum Yeah that was what I was thinking, would need to keep it as small as possible. You've had yours apart coxsy? is there a seal or o ring of any kind on the drum ends or is it just a drum on the shaft? The grease nipple idea is feasible...might just wo...

Re: Electric or PTO winch?
Hi all I've pulled the bars off for respraying and i've got this idea about the winch while it's off. These pto's can get gunk stuck in the shaft making freespool impossible. What do people think about drillling and tapping a thread into the spot marked in red...say a 4-6mm hole in which a bung coul...

Hey suzukisport...the GQ with the ARB sticker on the back - is that Chris Wilsons old truck from ChCh?? I heard it went up there. Has it got an AXT turbo?
If it is then it's good to see it getting used as Chris liked to use it

Hi guys, just REINTRODUCING myself. I had been unable to log on with my original username as I had changed email addresses, but this week Mike was able to rectify that for me.

Re: Fitting aftermarket rated tow points to ARB winch Bar
The aussies don't use hooks at all, they use shackles through those eyes. They also don't use the poly ropes we use, they use snatch straps. ARB designed their stuff primarlily for australian conditions. I have seen many recoveries in australia and although they may look as "stuck" as we ...

Re: bigger exhaust on GQ make any difference??
I put a mandrel 3" on mine late last year (no turbo yet), it made a big difference. Sounds better and it responds and opens up much better.

Re: safari flex arm
Coxsy, you fairly keen on getting a superior arm (or set)? If you are, let me know and I might be able to organise to get mine to you to try out. The limiting factor would be the shock length, but you may be able to just disconnect them to see what sort of flex you can get from these arms. I was qu...

Re: safari flex arm
Thank you DaveM for the correction re Outers forum, like I said I think all should be designed on their own merits etc.
What stirred me up a bit was the negative comment about Kiwi's in general but that was soon laid to rest.
1MadEngineer....great to see you online in NZ welcome dude
