Try posting your question on the 40 series tech forum at ih8mud.com Some answers at: http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=15844 It looks as if there may be quite a few issues with the 3f, although maybe less problems if it's a carb engine - lots of plumbing issues if it's injected. Regardless - ...

Offset is the how far the mounting is from the centre of the rim, and backspaqe is the distance from the face of the hub (where you bolt it on) to the inside edge of the rim, so if you have 8in rims, a zero offset will have 4in backspace. 10in rims with zero offset wil have 5in backspace. lThe backs...

Have you thought about contacting the Blenheim 4WD club? I've just joined recently, and found it to have some VERY good people - very helpful, and the club trips range from shiny truck suitable to some very challenging stuff. The more challenging trips usually have options to bypass the really knarl...

Stability problem - FJ40
I'm looking for advise on the best way to improve stability without having to uspset the bank manager. I've got an FJ40 lifted about 2inches by having the springs reset at the local blacksmith, and extended rear shackles. That gave me enough room to put 35inch Silverstones (M117) under, with a bit o...

I got a couple of front seats from a Honda civic - cost $10 complete with retractable seat belts from the local scrap-metal dealers who strip out abandoned cars for the crusher. Seats are worth nothing to them - they just get crushed. Keep away from the wreckers. I just mounted them on some angle-ir...

Note that a SOA is a BIG lift... Not quite as simple as you might think either.... You'd definitely need cerification.

Cheaper options are longer shackles - easy to make yourself - but shouldn't be more than 50mm longer than standard to keep it legal - then again, unless the WOF guys know what the standard length is, they won't know if it's oversize. The downside of that is you only lift the truck half the exta shac...

FJ40 Suspension lift?
Hello all. I've got an FJ40 with fairly tired springs (no surprises there I guess), but I'd like to get enough room to put a set of 33in tyres on, so need about a 2 inch lift. The soft springs seem to give surprisingly good articulation, so I'm reluctant to get them re-tensioned if there's an easier...

On the LTSA website http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/09.html it says "until re-registration and relicencing is complete, a vehicle can't be driven on the road: it must be towed or transported by other means" That seems to me that it's OK to tow an un-registered vehicle.....

Springs over axle for SJ410
Can anyone tell me whats involved in mounting the springs over the axle? It looks as if it may be quite straightforward - just swap the U-bolt mounts left for right so the shocks will still go on, & turn them up the other way. But will the steering arm still be long enough, and will I have probl...
