jeep auto controler info

Postby Rotazuk » Sun Oct 19, 2014 5:56 pm

Evening .
I have read on here about guys using stand alone jeep auto gearbox ecu for some toyota boxes after engine conversion . Does anyone have any detailed info on the jeep ecu , ie wiring diagram or pin out etc . What they came out of etc . I think they are used to control the a340 boxes , is that right ?
Want to see if it will control the auto in my suzuki , its what they call an aw4 box which is the same family I think .
Cheers
Chris

the AW4 is a jeep auto so yea a xj cherokee controller should work for you what motor are you running? if your running a toyota motor you could look into the prado type found in the lj/kzj 71 or 78 either should be able to control either the AW4 or the A340

The suzuki is a version of the AW4 . The suzuki auto ECU requires an input from the engine ECU . Wanting to find info and wiring for the Jeep controler to see if it will work on the suzuki auto so I can run a different engine and ecu , like I have read some guys do on what I thought was a toyota auto . Sure some toyotas ran a verson of teh AW4 also . thought it may have been the a340 series , maybe not . Will have to google .

Cheers
Chris

The AW4 is an A340... just minor differences to fit jeep transfercase. But the guts and control method is the same.

I found a bit of wiring info when i was googling how to manualise the first two gears in my XJ. Was a while ago but that angle might get you some results?

The jeep uses a stand alone controller. The toyota diesels have the engine ecu and auto controller in the same box. There is an early Toyota windom that had a stand alone controller. I have a thread on the forum re manualising the A340. As I did for my 1kzt powered playdoh.

XJ is the one I used in the Prado for the 2JZ... I threw all my wiring diagrams away a few months back when I was cleaning out the garage :-(
