wobbley front end when braking

Postby yael » Sun Sep 21, 2014 4:40 pm

Hi All,

I have an interesting problem that is slightly beyond my knowledge of suspension and brakes..

I have a LWB Nissan safari GQ running standard suspension setup and 33x12.5R15 mud tires inflated to aprox 45psi which drives like a dream until I brake when it gets the death wobbles...

how ever I get no pulsing feedback through the brake peddle nor any feedback through the steering wheel during normal driving....

any suggestions or recommendations on how to remedy my wobbles would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Yael

Control arm bushes, dude. When you brake they are allowing the diff to rotate. My swb does the same. Woth checking the panhard too. Get under it while someone else turns lock to lock.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

45psi  mate I,d let them down to 40 or less wont feel like your driving on wooden wheels and your tyres will wear better.yeah control arm bushes for wobble issues, might want to check and re grease your kingpins while your at it.

also remember the tire pressure rises when the tyre heats on the road roughly 4 psi

I would check panhard bushes , run between 30 and 40 psi dependant on tyre sidewall thickness , check wheel balance , whel bearings for play radius arm bush condition and if all that fails re shim your king pin bearings

I've finally got around to having a good look under the truck and it seems the radius arm bushes have passed their use by date... Think it's time to pull the parts truck appart!!

If I were you I would avoid using nolethane bushes, I did my front end 8months ago and put them in and they are now all flogged out. My advice is to find some rubber ones they may cost more but they last longer
