So my terrano has been sitting for about a month, maybe a bit more and when I jumped in to start it today the clutch pedal wouldn't move, solid as a rock. Now my mechanical experience is pretty limited so i'm wondering if any of you have had similar issues or have any idea what is going on?
Any thoughts??
wtf has happened to my clutch?
Re: wtf has happened to my clutch?
if you were in water before you left it it will have rusted together very slightly, try rock it forward or reverse to break the grip otherwise you will have to remove gearbox and separate the bits( maybe try slide a fi8ne screw driver up where the inspection hole is).. had this before in my truck.. which was why I went auto in the end..
Re: wtf has happened to my clutch?
ahh thats not good news considering the reason it was off the road for so long was because of a little dip in the river
Re: wtf has happened to my clutch?
Hang on here.
is the peddle going down or it the peddle stuck up??

I suspect it is stuck up..doesn't move at all
Re: wtf has happened to my clutch?
guessing its rusted the bearing onto the shaft, or the pressure plate is rusted. either way its pull the gearbox out.

agree
but, loosen the fluid line at the master first and see if the peddle will go down, that's first step. with luck it will not
do these things have an internal or external slave? if external pop it off and check it for operation. with luck it will not.
if the above seem all ok, the bad news its box out
Re: wtf has happened to my clutch?
good point, make sure its not the pedal thats jammed.

Re: wtf has happened to my clutch?
At this point you have nothing to loose.
Sooooo......
Big can of wD40 with nozzle thingy and empty the can into the bell housing spraying around as best you can from through the little drain hole.
Leave for a day.
Get your mates over.
Put truck into 1st and get you mates to help you rock it back and forth hard. Be abusive. Meanwhile you sit inside and try and shock load the clutch via the pedal in time with the rocking. Try sort of stamping on it, not excessivly hard, but still like you mean it.
All the shock loading and stamping might just be enough.
Chances are the release bearing might not last long if you do get it going though, it's possible it might be seized from the dunking also.
Worth a shot I reckon

probably contaminate the clutch plate doing that.
unless its the external links that have seized, you going to have pull the box off at some stage.
Re: wtf has happened to my clutch?
Thanks for all the advice fellas, looks like a project for the coming weekends
Re: wtf has happened to my clutch?
Pull the slave cylinder from the gearbox and gently push the clutch pedal down. If its still hard your slave has rusted in place.
If it moves then your clutch plate has rusted to the pressure plate and you will need to remove the box.
