R150 into LN106?

Postby quick6 » Fri Nov 27, 2015 5:27 am

I have an ln106 with a g52 gearbox that is getting noisy. I have a surf r150 here just wanting some solid info on what needs to be modified to get it into the Hilux? I have googled and found everything from 'not worth the hassle' to 'bolts straight in mate'. I understand the wiring for the electric transfer case more after info on driveshaft lengths and stick positions? Or is it better to just sell it and rebuild? Cheers.

hi i dealt with these years ago for v8 transplants but the gear box to bellhouseing conection from the g52 and the w serise gear boxs was always different. My advice would be to find a bellhousing for your enging/ gearbox. This gives you a solid point to measure how much differents there is from the engine back. happy hunting

I do have the bellhousing from an ln130 which will bolt up, time to put it together and have a measure up I guess. Engine is the 3l 2.8 diesel.

bell housing from the 2.4 should bolt up. just not sure about input shaft on the r150.
the r150 was on the petrol (v6 only?). most of the diesels used r151. basically the same just different gear ratios.
clutch is 2.8 disk, 2.8 hiace pressure plate and surf 2.4 bearing.
