Landcruiser pto and surf auto to transfer adapter

Postby skidmark » Sun Jan 15, 2017 11:18 am

Righto chaps, may have a plan to fit a pto onto my surf, but looking for a landcruiser pto and the auto to surf transfer case adapter to see weather my plan is feasible

Prefer around the Waikato as big bulky items to ship but not essential. Also doesn't have to be in working condition if cheap

Cheers Alistair

In the Landcruiser the pto takeoff is in the transfercase....
I have heard thru the grapevine that there is a surf / hilux transfercase which sports a pto but it was just a whisper...
Never seen one in the flesh.

Not wanting to go down the track of landcruiser transfer case just yet, as offset rear driveshaft)yes I know people have successfully done this in the past)

Am thinking about cutting and welding a flange in the adapter between auto and transfer (mine is chain drive) and putting a drive gear in the collar that drives from auto to transfer.
Will it work? I'm not sure. Also not sure if it would put too much side load on the bearings as not designed for

I like your thinking......
I know with my Prado setup there is plenty of shaft between the two in the adaptor part....... (auto)
Will watch this thread and see how yah go...
