WTB R20 - manual - diesel driveshaft and x member.

Postby Wade » Thu Feb 16, 2017 10:31 pm

I'm wanting the following parts due to converting my WD21 Terrano to a QD32 engine and FS5R30A gearbox ( both from D22 )

Driveshaft from an R20 Diesel Manual.

Cross member from an R20 Diesel Manual

I'm in Wellington but I don't mind paying shipping.

All the R20 mistrals in NZ are automatics. The only R20s with manual gearboxes that are in NZ are ones that have been imported from OZ, where they were sold new as "Terrano II"s . I've only seen two of them. Plenty of wreckers in OZ will have the bits you need though...

I'll have to go have a ring around, I imagine that the shipping would be pretty pricey !

possibly, often OZ freight charges seem high, however, there is not actually a lot of weight in a driveshaft and cross member, compared to say a gearbox or motor or axle . The driveshaft on a 4wd tends to not be as long as a cars one, due to the length of the generous trans plus transfer case.

Interesting, when I did the swap to the R30A gearbox, I used the rear driveshaft from a 4-door diesel WD21, which has enough plunge for the slip yoke through full wheel travel.

Also I used the standard gearbox crossmember if I recall correctly.

Although mine is TD27 (BD30 in the future  ), I don't know if that makes a difference

I'm going from TD27 to QD32.

I was under the impression the long block casting was the same apart from the vacuum pump and it is the gearbox length that required the shorter driveshaft?
