I recently came to the realisation I have owned this thing for 10 years and it has been off the road as a project for the last 8

I have had a bit of a rethink about this project and am seriously considering paying someone to fit the engine and transmission and get it certed. Yes i know it is a big call. I rang the guy who owns Mercworxs just out of Tirau the other day for a rough idea of price and he told me $6k which isn't that much more than i think it will cost me to do. If i do it i need a handy workspace and time neither of which i have at the moment so thinking paying someone who has done the conversion before will get it on the road much sooner so could actually join a club and start to use and enjoy it, it has been parked in Yoricks shed for way too long.

any thoughts

So i bought a donor vehicle from Kapiti coast and have transported that to lower hutt and listed it on trade me as wrecking. took it for a drive to check out how well the car ran if there were any obvious issues etc. All the warning lights that were on when i collected the car are no longer there the engine has plenty of pull from low down this engine and trans is going to be a great swap.

just gotta ring a certifier and make things happen now
