Take the tail off the auto a length of tube the right length and a flandge on each end with the appropriate holes to line things up and you are nearly there

Just going to be a club truck but the oplan is that we only have to build it once and not keep going back to modify things every bloody week

Theres a couple of benefits to a mid mounted winch, first off your approach angle is improved coz you don't have a big ole winch bar sticking out the front, only the fair lead. Second, it will spool the cable onto the drum much nicer as well because of the distance between the fair lead and the winch. If its setup like the Foers winch in the above post, with the cable going to the back of the truck, around a snatch block then out the front, you can winch both forwards and backwards. Otherwise if its setup with the cable going straight out the front, you just winch as per normal. All you are doing by midmounting it is increasing the distance between the fairlead and the winch. hope this helps :D

cable runs straight down the side and out through the bullbar, also mid mounted helps with weight distribution

Andrew Graham and I were actually the first in NZ to run a mid mounted winch, was the second round of the NZ wicnh series held down in Horopito back in 2001

It was an 8274 Warn mounted behind the cab in a hilux running SAt Tyres and we finished 9th overall. we had some problems with rule makers as the rules said the winch had to be forward acting which it was but they meant it had to be forward mounted or something likethat. The end of the day we competed so didnt really matter

i have thought about a centre mount winch if i set one up i would run the cable to the front first then to the back the theory being usually when you need to get winched back you don't need as much pulling power as you made a track when you drove in and you would have double line pull up front
