well truned her around this morn whiped the wheel off to adj bearing and the nut that holds the flange on was loose (very unlike the previous careful lady owner only used to go to church on a sunday but the son drove it during the week!) whipped that off and low and behold the bl*&^dy thing was cracked on the taper,pulled out the spare cleaned it up and fitted it now no wobble so all good :D
nice day and all took for a little drive round the local roads did grand total of 6 kms things i found
waste of time with the stero can't hear it :(
a bit wandery on the road
must remember that no sycro on first gear,big sticker doesn't help :?
got lots of looks but when mr plod looked at me time to go home me thinks! wof and reg but who needs the hassle
still have to check over most bolts to make sure they are tight but felt ok and what a rush after all the work done and the exhaust pipe has slightly greyed up so here hoping I won't have to pull the motor apart just yet :D :D :D :D :D :D

been a while but have done a couple of things started on exhaust stack,made centre console, ready to bolt down tool box and fit air compressor
but she died again in the drive so this morning after mucking around for a week I ripped off her head a bit of carbon build up but not too bad very small lip in the bore so will order new rings,head,tappet cover gasket this week then put back together with a quick hone and that will hopefully stop the smoke and fouling the plugs and might run properly !!! till get motivated to rebuild the orignal engine
heres a couple of pic's

any thoughts?
will throw up on petrol mod as well
till next time

well heads stripped,cleaned and ready for a quick lap and reassemble :?
have just popped pistons out am NOT looking at crank bearing too hard (they look worn) so hopefully tomorrow will lap in valves and might start honing the bores havn't seen my parts from aussie yet but good things take time,have come to the conclusion this engine has never been apart so hoping this will cure the problems

have recived my rebuild kit for the webber and a blank adaptor plate so have that to carry on with if all else fails
onward and upward

Is that the one that was in it when you got it?

I don't think the bottom end had been looked at. But it was taken out and sat in the shed for 8 years as it was smokey.

We then dropped it back in the Jeep to get it mobile as the one we rebuilt 8 years earlier got smokey and wasn't worth rebuilding again.

After 8 years sitting in the shed it just fired straight into life.

this is a bog job then I better get rebuilding the original engine

Oils cheap, just keep pouring it in the top. I put over 2l of auto trans fluid in my zuk at Manukau W/C, although I think the water helped the level a bit too :roll:
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

put some borrow rim spacers on today and went for a wee drive to the hill a couple of doors down to check gap between trye and chassis,springs etc just slight rubbing at 8mmon hard lock so 15mm offset increase will do :D and about a 13 mtr turning circle :?
[URL=http://s406.photobucket
[URL=http://s406.photobucket
and the Exon Valdezs award is mine still :? almost solid trickle of oil down the road and then up the drive into the garage bugger :oops: out with the degreaser and broom looks a little better ,I hate shared driveways!!!!
does seem to run nicer with the newer carb ust need fine tuning now but will have to wait for the rear main to be done................ again
till next time
