Re: project cj 4a jeep
well I have been slowly working on this
have loosened most bolts for removal
got a key for door lock
made new set of ht leads(yes made) hade some lead wire at work
started making hayman reese type tow hich/recovery point have to work out on how to attach
should be picking up donor body but weather supose to be crap in dunedin and most of NZ
last but not least stuffed spare water pump trying to rebuild (I need a smaller hammer 4lb to big)
de rusted some of the chassis removed and cleaned doubler plates and under sealed what I've cleaned
tried to sort out for roll bar but nothing confirmed any have been told needed to cert ?
cant get it into workshop at work this weekend due to space or lack of bugger

Re: project cj 4a jeep
This is the Jeep he has and is video'd on the farm
It spent the best part of 30 years on our farm at home & it got taken away a few weeks ago. Had ben put into retirement the last 3 years and replaced by a 2.8 Hilux
Found some more!
And with the deck off.

still waiting on extended shackles but got the rest of the steel I was waiting for and the pipe for the roll cage 40mm od seamless pipe should be strong enough hope i never find out
am currently making plate for the hilift to sit on and working out how to fit the snorkle
need to get home to free up the brakes (read rebuild)and rewire and paint the chassis
but one thing at a time
too cold and to much snow to work on today so spent the day earning brownie points with the missi s

well went to work sat morning tried to start but wouldn't with a bit of help we got it going I HATE electrics
feeling pissed off hooked up a frame and towed home put in garage removed rear wheels but couldn't get drums off(not winning this weekend)
sunday
while planning what to do next i thought i'll just remove the front guard weeeeelllllllll a couple of hours later
both guards off
grill off/out
radiator out
bonnet off
cab just sitting there
windscreen out
head lights out
grill washed,
flushed radiator and most bits in ute for the steam cleaner to clean
BUT found more dirt and rust in body so when I can back off to work with a date with the steam cleaner and grinder
still feeling better as looks like some thing is happening
but the list is still growing

Re: project cj 4a jeep
this is what a toplis jeep looks like
got some undercoat and hibuild on today then it fell off the trailer it was sitting on when moving inside and put a gouge in the hibuild it was about 3mm thick but will sand tomorrow and put more on hoping to have top coat on by friday then let harden for a couple of days then put back together
unless murphy pokes his little head up totaly on the cards
have chasis on the wheels and off axle stands and put tow point for the a frame on and the first recovery hook and both rear shockies with a nice coat of red paint
the bit i added
sorry no painted photos left the camera at home

Re: project cj 4a jeep
the undercoated grill and the rest of the body etc the same colour at the moment will be green tomorrow night all going well
the body with just the hibuild I like this stuff it hides most of the imperfections then just sand backtill smooth in some places could be 2mm+ thick all out of the spray gun
the body inside 1/2 hibuild and under coat
this feels like I'm making some progress at last

Re: project cj 4a jeep
What have you done to the Red Jeep!
Looks good man.
Is that the same front body? If it is I see you put the arch back in on the drivers side door frame - made it easier to get in and out of in Gummies and leggings!
