WOF and REGO :D :D :D 8) 8)

Took her for a random test drive last night. 140km . 5 of gravel and
10 of easy-ish off road / sand , went like a dream , a bit interesting at 90km.
Rocklobster is awesome , holding 95km /hr in 5th up hills at 3200 RPM 8)

Done some flex testing as well , will post up some pics later . but pretty happy with how she is looking.

Willson Road , up out of Parakai. just soft core , before committing to the beach.

Track was real cutup and the sand real soft and deep in places.

Truck is not ready for the real test track , have to do some bog proofing first.

pic is taken right at the beginning by the road. some nice wee cross axle ruts.

I had to have couple of goes to get up the main hill in the middle due to real soft sand. diddn't go down onto the beach as tide was in but the access looks way worse than it used to be.

So after my random test drive i found i had a few things to sort out.
Was getting a bad clunk when decelerating and noticed that the gear lever would move forward 20mm
Turned out the rear gearbox mount was completely poked.

So ordered one of these last week and fitted yesterday . 8) problem solved. Supposed to be unbreakable

Image

Also have one transfer rubber about to let go , a worn jack shaft uni and a leaking rear break drum. Was little wonder i was having dramas getting the breaks to bleed up properly.

So not wanting to spend any money on stupid drum breaks i stripped down a spare rear housing yesterday . Fitted a traction enhancing equipped 3rd member of the Richmond variety .

Image

Combined with a oddly mismatched pair of brackets.

Image

and ending up with this as the final result. :D

Image

have ordered a proportioning valve setup , and just need to fab up some brackets to hold the end of the break lines and ill have rear disc breaks on the zuk 8)

Stripped the front diff down last weekend. Was in a pretty shocking condition.
Replaced all the seals and repacked all the bearings with nice new grease. Checked front diff head and fitted a proper breather connection for the front diff

Replaced both front CV's / axles with better units , No More clicking CV's

Also fitted a temp roll bar for the weekend. so my roof will actually stay on properly.
