Re: safaripetes FJ40
fitted 50mm hub spacers to the front end tonite just to get the tyre away from the steering arms also tightened up the idler box as all the bolts were loose from the spring washers being non existant
got a new wheel bearing kit to replace the flogged out 1 so will do that tomorrow nite
started work on making extended shackles going for a 6 inch center to center
also purchased a plastic tool box to put all my recovery stuff in etc will bolt that in somewhere at some stage
will get pics up of shackles when they are in
will either modify the bullbar i have now or make a new one still undecided yet but as costa only 2weeks away will have to sort something out

Re: safaripetes FJ40
just resurecting my build thread
since getting the 40 ready ive been out a few times
had a few problems with cvs breaking, wiring catching fire, smashing the rear diff head, breaking engine mounts, breaking transfercase mount blah blah blah
so im going to take a wee bit of time this time round to get things running better
mite even make an attempt at getting it road legal
1st step was to sort out the exhuast leak so replaced the manifold gasket and welded up the crack in the pipe
next step is to sort out the wiring again. this time im not touching it. as we have an auto sparky at work he and i are cutting a deal hes rewiring the 40 and im rebuilding his trailor. (good deal me thinks)
i have fitted the powersteering box and colum etc but still waiting on a suitable pump
gotta get the front wheel bearings replaced at some stage soon
maybe replace all the disks with non drilled ones and find a brake pad that is a little more hard wearing but that could be the disk
and as i have a coil setup sitting in the shed i may make a start at coiling the front
give the body work a tidy up and make some bar work to protect it
pics to follow soon
