Project Green Machine

Postby mroffroader » Sun Aug 01, 2010 8:08 pm

Hey guys

This is what iv'e been chipping away at and draining my wallet for the past 10ish months. Its a 1990 Suzuki Samurai widetrack leaf sprung..beast.

I bought it pretty much standard with dorky big shackles and 31's a cage and a smokey 1300 big block.

And as it has progressed....

-I have put some 32x10.5 simexs on Howat mechanical beadlocks

-Fitted new old man emu shocks and springs

-Shoe horned a Redtop small port 4-AGE which has been tickled a little (balanced up, rebuilt with all TRD rings, bearings and a bit of headwork has been done also)

I moved the transfer-case back 50mm and had a custom jack shaft made to adapt the T series gearbox to the Suzuki transfer-case and also had the rear driveshaft shortened and the front lengthened so I was able to run a decent size radiator up front.

Bought some Racetech seats and RJS 4 point harnesses (yet to be fitted)

Fitted front and rear ARB airlockers at the same time as replacing the front cv's for new ones and rebuilding the front axle with new bearings etc.

The rear guards got the chop in order to fit the 32's and the front was started until I found rust and spent to much time on pirate and got some inspiration to do something a little different...

So heres a few pics of the build up and at the point i'm at now.

Thats about it...Just finishing bits and peices left like mounting seats, finishing front clip a bit more bar work, painting various things and then hopefully i'll see you all on the tracks again soon!!

Updates to follow...:)

Ditto, looking sharp. How do you keep mud and crap out of the engine bay though? Saw one like this a while ago with the bonnet cut to a wedge shape (okay, not a triangle wedge), looked good but a pain to do apparently.

And easier then doing the front guards

Yea not finished yet, getting to that bit soon. I'm thinking a bit of alloy just to keep the most of it out. yea dovetailed...looks cool but your right absolute mission to do and lets face it suzukis are made of tin foil and a pain in the butt to weld!!!
