Re: Hilux trailer queen
Finally some progress, no thanks to moving house, etc....
a mod or two has begun.
winch first, low mount Warn 9000lb, as far back and high as poss, cool as tube work to follow....
wasn't happy with the front bar work like this
Made a hole in the body work for winch to live....... high up and as far back as can be
going to mount it about here...
Don't think approach angle is going to be an issue
cool as bar work to follow

ACE! looking good. how is it compared to the last surf? just ignore the price of gas when deciding

Price of fuel isn't a concern due to it being trailered, and as Rok states....

Re: Hilux trailer queen
I bet that truck has been the inspiration and design starting point of many builds
Made plenty of progress today, chassis braced and blocked for the winch, winch plate/cradle virtually complete just gusetting to weld up and it's ready for the bar work ...so far i've spent $25 bucks

Re: Hilux trailer queen
Took a couple of pics tonight when I finished up in the shed to keep you pic porners happy, didin't get as far as I wanted (thanks to EQC inpecting our new place) but the hardest part of a winch bar build is done, and rather than an off the shelf item...a bit of cutting and burning and I've finished up with something pretty good ready to build the tube work on.....still only spent $25
chassis blocked (still gotta weld up)
Made this from srcatch
Going to weld it in place here
And rollers are going to live here
Barwork left to go, got a good design finished on paper similar to pic posted but with my own twist Looking forward to getting the bar work in place as it looks a bit agricultural at the mo, will smooth out fine and dandy tho

Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Re: Hilux trailer queen
A bit more progress, bent up a bit of bar work and tacked a bit in place......
Happy with it so far, will need a couple of support braces, inside the hoop will be a couple of spotties......anyway you get the idea
hopefully get a bit more done later this week

Re: Hilux trailer queen
All tacked up, just gotta weld it up properly, and give it a couple of coats of satin black epoxy, i'm happy with the result, it's going to look sweet.
