What does she weigh in at now with the Safari gearbox and front axle and bars/winch etc? A touch under 3 tonnes?

fully loaded up with camping gear, tents, bbq, spear 20l diesel, recovery ect, I drove it on the truck scales in Ranfurly and she came in at 2530kg. at a guess would be 100kg less without all the crap in it. at the same time a sas surf, lwb prado, swb prado weighted in too, all within 80kg of each other. only exception was a low roof lwb safari 2870g. from memory stock weight when weighted at rubbish dump was 1900ish kg

Shit that's not bad all. I thought the 4 doors were a good amount over 2t standard.

I got my 3dr down to 1700kg loaded once, but after the bigger gearbox and rear axle and front diff, it climbed up to almost 2t.

Shit I think I can shave off the best part of 100kg by going back to the 8" rear axle.

Amazing work on this truck. Very inspirational!
Just wondering, did you manage to fit that Subaru W2A intercooler without a body lift? Do you recall how tall it is?
Cheers, Dan.

I put a subby water to air on mine without body lift but the under bonnet insulation has polished it.

hey guys

so lets get this straight, a td42 will bolt on if you make new housing and use a TD27 clutch and pressure plate?

do you have measurements for the new housing you made?

anything will bolt on if ya make if fit. so yea if ya make a bell housing then yea it will bolt on. one easy step eh,
I used the stock flywheel and upgraded std clutch only because that's what I had, there's no reason why ya cant use something else that's the same spline.

I suspect you wont get anything for those dimensions. You are looking for big travel/closed length ratio. You'll have to compromise on one of those measurements.
900-490 = 410 travel.
410/490 is 84%.

As an example a 125mm lift efs extreme for the rear of an 80 series is 695 open, 400 closed, therefore 295 travel. 295/400 is 74%.

But I guess as the travel gets longer the travel/closed length ratio will get bigger. So maybe you'll find what you need.

Also you just effectively asked for a shock with over 16" of travel. That's no small ask.

Maybe these?

(just run them as a shock, not as a coil over).
