Yea, it sticks out about 10-15 mm into where elbow is.
Haven't fully decided on the plan of attack but can probably shorten throttle body abit where traction control stuff uses to be.

Got it sorted, wasn't as bad as I initially anticipated, hack a section off silicone elbow, then cut a section of aluminum out of the pipe, join back together and everyone's happy...

Anyone know of fiberglass bonnets for a surf? I know of 4wd fiberglass but it's 225 plus gst for top skin only ,just seeing if there's another option

I guess a skin would be more than enough, because I'm going to need to chop and put a bulge in it.so figured it be easy if it was all fibreglass than trying to modify the original.Suppose the price isn't too bad, just if there's other options

What ide do is use ur existing bonnet as a plug, shape that as you want, get it right then from that produce a mould then from that you can produce your new bonnet. Time consuming and probably more than $225 tho

4wd fibre glass have a mould for a surf bonnet that has a higher than factory centre in it. (Same as what Madaz has on his truck) But it's for the generation/shape before yours. Not sure if the bonnets are the same dimensions or not, I haven't looked into it but am considering it as an option for my truck.

Also Steve at 4wd fibre glass is a fairly helpful guy (though he's busy so can be slow sometimes) but if you wanted, ask him about making a new mould with a bigger bulge for your shape bonnet. He may be keen to have such a mould in stock. But maybe not.

Arron.

Well Got my top bonnet skin, have made a basic ali frame to attach to hinges then will glass it onto the skin..that's the plan.managed to get everything apart from my breather tank low enough to fit under with out chopping holes,so will remake that...

Also since I put the big hunk of steel and winch on the front,it was just touching bumpstop, there wasn't much clearance there before but...well there's a huge difference between saggy old 80 series springs and 2 inch lift...hopefully they settle and sag a bit. Will reavaluate once Exo is on...

Didn't drive it,cause alternator gave up the ghost so will fix that during the week but doesn't seem to be as spongy/rolly when I jump on the side of it

So is that bonnet skin standard shape or is the hump in the middle taller? Did 4wd fibreglass make it for you?

Yea,Steve at 4wd fiberglass made it for me..just round the corner from work which is handy.had to take my original in because they had lost labels of the moulds. Yes it is standard shape.but as no bracing underneath it gets a wee bit more clearance

Bonnet is just about finished, fibreglass shop recommended 5min stuff, that's a mistake. Bloody stuff set before I could really so anything... got part attached but will get some normal glass and try again.... got bonnet pins fitted, will glass in reinforcement plates under when I finsh it.

Finally made a vacuum tank for rear diff lock and plumbed it in,that works a treat so far.also left the old cruise control vacuum pump and switch in line to the solenoid for what ever reason loose vacuum to it the pump will kick in.

It does work to engage/disengage the rear diff lock but a bit slow, almost instant under engine vacuum.have a one way valve in it,but as a precaution for when under boost I guess

Went and saw the boys at 4wd fiberglass for fibreglass (don't know why I didn't do that to start with....)got the right stuff and finshed a layer on the bracing..might get some more to add a bit around hinges etc.

Started the basis of rear bar, kinda copying off one of Tom's I saw on Facebook hope he doesn't mind... thinking I might fit crush tubes to chassis as plan to carry Exo on from bars

Will upload some more pics when on wifi, but anyone know the standard dimensions for tow bar receivers? Have some box section off original tow bar I think will be right, it's 65mm od haven't cut it open to find out Id yet. Plan for rear bar is this as it's mainly tube I think it should hold up tuff enough.bolts through chassis in 8 spots.

Considering I have tendency in my opinion to over build and shit weighs tonnes.do I need to add anything more to this brace wise? (I still have to cap the ends)
