Things havebeen a bit slow since the last outing... had rim repaired with a new centre fitted...only got a shitty rattle can black this time round.
Fitted a efs panhard from force 4.

Noticed a couple things i needed to do. Fitted a set of winch horns.
rps20160529_190320.jpg

Orederd and fitted a set of limit strap front and rear as suspension outflexed shocks and didnt want to cause premature stress to them.

Also wired up trailer plug and reverse lights onto rear frame.

Cookes sell them.
Aren't you using synthetic rope?
I thought about installing one on my synthetic rope when I converted from wire years ago. I didn't end up installing one because it would damage the bowl of the washing machine when I wash the rope(when the wife is away of course).
Also it makes it easy to loop the rope through the eye for attaching the hook. No need for a joiner in the system which is just another component to fail.

Yes synthetic rope..i did wonder if one was required...perhaps cause my hook has a removable pin. .thats another option if i can run without it ill do that

I have run with a removable pin hook before. I think they call them a chain hook. Have never broken the rope at the bend in the rope at the hook attachment. always broken further down the rope after the splice.

Turns out its been a while for a update... got front locker fitted. Went out for a trip to ngaroma and the hydraulic fan lunched itself.. Manga fed to track down replacement parts and fitted them. Did cambelt and water pump while was apart.Turns out they run a oil cooler factory that I hadn't known about.
20160911_101301.jpg

Seems to have done the trick..haven't had a chance to take it out again but finally fitted the shift kit into the trans today. Definitely made a noticeable improvement. Used to be quite sluggish and would slip a lot engaging the next gear.now it's a lot more positive . hopefully prolong trans life a bit... no pictures cause too much atf everywhere.

Have new action cam,so should hopefully get some decent video next time I'm out

It would appear that your only issue there is that those bloody paddocks are not big enough

what setup did you use in ya trans..? as I got the same one and have been playing around with it through the lexus box but now have the prado box and looking at it again..to make it a nicer shift.. you need a bigger paddock too so you can let the horses out ..

It's can look up the parts number, it firmed up the shifts which I wanted, although it makes a few funny noises on initial start up,yet drives fine.
The kit didn't match up exactly tho,and it says one of the valves didn't fit. Only set it for truck rather than hotrod.

Well haven't had it out anywhere as much I would have liked, time and money have slowed me up quite a lot...haha but using it as a tractor around the house to try pull out stumps and roots etc, managed to bend my tow bar... (spouse I did have winch doubled back attached to a tree infront....) so used a chain and a bottle jack straighten it out and added a couple braces.

Had it at up woodhil previous to this for the nzoffroader open day thing, went good apart from not knowing where we where going.

Going to look at making a rear sway bar from a torsion bar, to help improve roll stability. And hopefully make the front work better

Brought it out of the shed once since my last post, got a wof and back in the shed....
But have roughed up a sway bar haven't driven with it but grabbing the cage and rocking it makes a huge difference.

Just waiting on some misalignment spacers, to give the heims some more movement then slap some paint around.

I thought I'd start investigating into my plan of fitting a pto to my trans, and started to split the parts transmission I've had sitting on the floor for at least a year- this is where it went down hill... my memory had told me the intermediate housing between the trans and transfer case was one big hollow item.
This isnt the case and theres a bearing and seal and.... well the pto gear doenst even fit in there. this plan is out the window.
20181007_184554.jpg

20181007_184558.jpg

I wont give up yet and have two options that seem do able, one is a prado transfer set up, but I need to measure up the lengths and see how short the front driveshaft will be, and deal with offset rear driveshaft, probably not too much of a issue as this does very little road kms(very little kms at all actually)

or option two I found on YouTube a vague video of someone modified a hilux gear drive transfer to take a land cruiser pto drive.

will look at option one for now
