I have 4.6 crown wheels and pinions in the parts bin from a 95 3.5L. $50 each end would cover it. Watching with interest, Cheers Andy.
May the force be with you.

Hi, after I take her for the first drive i'll know if I want to change diff ratios, and i'll give you a shout then as yours sound ideal. Cheers.

Some work from this week - it turns out the 3SGTE flywheel wont quite be suitable. So John the engineer is machining up a custom steel flywheel, which is looking awesome.

Also have an adaptor made up for the thrust bearing to extend it closer towards the clutch pressure plate fingers for proper clutch feel and action...we hope!!

Finished off most of the clutch pedal and master cylinder install tonight. Looks good with 3 pedals and not two.
I sourced a manual brake and clutch pedal assembly from aussie and it bolted straight in.

Also been painting up the engine bay while its empty. Tidied up a bit of corrosion and tired paint around the chassis rails etc.

My new flywheel is installed and ready to rock, its wider, stronger and heavier than the toyota stock 3sgte one it replaces.

Next image is the master cylinder for the clutch installed and ready to do its thing.

This week I also ordered a megasquirt V3.57 ecu, whichis a fully stand alone engine management computer. This will allow me to bypass the 1million plus wires on the factory lexus ecu, and have much more flexibility for tuning, rev limits etc.

Anyone had experience with these ECU's on this forum?

Just make sure you wire it properly, then set the settings up correctly then you should be sweet.. Most problems are from not wiring correctly.. goodluck.. watching

I have used 2 now that customers have supplied. 1 for a lexus that we couldn't get to run on 8 cylinders because it didn't have all 8 injector drivers in it. And one on a nissan v6 that wouldn't run at all and would not communicate with any of our laptop's when using the software they supplied.

Both of these were bought off trademe pre-assembled and the bloke selling them wasn't overly helpful.

Our last lexus conversion we used a Wirelink ECU from Chris Woods in Cristchurch, it was already set up and ran perfect out of the box and they are sealed.

Hi Dan, cheers for that info - how long ago was this? do you recall the sellers name or trademe name?

No I dont sorry, The contact I had with him was via email after the customers contacted him. I got the idea he was buying the kit sets and assembling them then selling them on. I believe it was his workmanship at fault not so much quality of the megasquirt as there are to many people using them that are happy with them. The lexus one got resolved and is going fine now, I never heard any out come from the v6 nissan.
I if was going to use one I would buy a kit set one and put it together myself.

They dont use the same hardware for all applications so you need to make sure you build it (or buy it) with the appropriate hardware configuration, Im not sure what your particular engine needs but a generic MS II (on whatever board version) only has one high current ignition output. Depending on your setup you may need to mod it too 2 or 4 logic level outputs.
The idle speed control may also require modification depending on stepper or PWM valve. Then there are configurable outputs and table/map switching etc which require various jumpers and wiring in the ECU

And you can add a $20 bluetooth module to it and use an android device to tune it, or just use as a dash board

My Megasquirt has arrived and the engine, gearbox and all the running gear is installed in place for use now.

Next will be wiring in the ECU, fuel pump install and then taking it for cert and re-vinning, then the plan is for:

- Body work tidy up and a paint up
- New wheels and tyres
- Snorkel and high flow filter setup
- Possible diff ratio change to 4.6 c/p wheels

Action shot of the truck getting some wiring attention!

Lots of work ahead to get all the wires spliced, soldered and heatshrunk. Thats after I work out what ones I need to use....

Shot of the inside too, with the shifter locations. They are pretty close to ideal but a little push and shove required to get them to slot into the holes of the factory pajero shifters, forwards about 20mm out on each count, so not a bad job Nissan, pretty happy there!

I have been wiring in the megasquirt this week, into the 1UZ factory loom and sensors, and into the body loom of the Pajero.
This is no easy task but I am about 75% of the way through.
There is plenty of stuff on the internet but it is all piecemeal and helpful in bits and pieces.
Some of the most handy resources I have found are:

- Link ECU support drawings/PDFs:
http://www.linkecu.com/support/document ... l-drawings

- www.diyautotune.com resources

- www.lextreme.com has downloads for factory 1UZ wiring diagrams. Although the only diagram I can find on the net for my particular engine in the UZS Aristo is only in Japanese. I have had to do lots of metering to work out wires myself and cross ref. to the LS400 and Soarer diagrams. My 40p 40p 40p ECU has the same pinouts but differnt wire colours.

hi from kenya where i have studied this thread very intently. I am building a gen 3 lwb pajero for rally raid. its basically going to have its rear body chopped off, cage installed and along with a 1uz vvti should be good fun.

there are two options ive been looking at in regards the only problem, the gearbox. mine is an auto which has been ditched for a manual.

from a south african thread i have picked up cad drawings for flywheel and adapter plate for a 4m41 manual gearbox swap. which is great but the box will have to be imported which will be costly and as it runs a dual mass flywheel i SUSPECT the flywheel in steel would be very heavy. i should know soon hopefully.

the other option is what you have done, so long as the gearbox in the terrano with the td27t is the same as in your V6. I will inspect this gearbox here locally on Tuesday as it is available.

assuming it is the same pls tell me about your flywheel is it something i can buy of the shelf? what did it weigh? what cover and driven plates did you use in mm? would you share the cad drawing for it?

unfortunate your build is incomplete as the next question was going to be can your setup handle some serious abuse?

I MAY supercharge (6 psi) later if the pajero platform is what i am told it is and of course budget allowing.

thanks

thanks

Hi tchui how is your build going?
Ive had mine on hold but wish to resume soon and finish it off.
my flywheel was totally custom made to suit my clutch and gearbox.

How did you get on with the MSII?

I am running a MSII V3.0 but fuel injection only on a 3.9L rover V8, has been running fine for five years now.

When I find some time I plan to get a trigger wheel mounted on the crank and run coil packs to try squeeze some more HP out of it.

Cheers,

Pete

Ecu wired up and power on.
Opened up TunerStudioMS to start setting up parameters and the ecu already has a 1UZ base tune loaded.

Yeah! But when clicked on, it loads right way up....odd!!

Moved the fuel pump today. The 044 walbro pump is not capable of lifting fuel well, so have mounted it down low by the tank. This negates the need for a low psi high volume lift pump and a surge tank.
