I can completely understand where you're coming from there! Just picking brains at the moment, but would it not be the same as the factory one then? Cause that doesn't have a flexy either?

Check this out, if this is the right manifold there is an expansion joint in the middle. scroll a little way down the page:

http://krasnoyarsk.baza.drom.ru/nissan-vg30det-kolektor-i-forsunki-12045535.html

according to calcs with a 600mm long pipe at 700 degrees the pipe lengthens by 5mm over room temp length.

Oh Yeah, i see what you mean.. I may cut a section out of the front of mine in that case & put one in place! I'm sure it will help anyways, even though everything was fabed up correctly

I run a Megasquirt II on my V8landy. For what I paid for it, I'm happy. Only experience I have had with link was help wire one up, then it went to the dyno, came back and that was it. All done.

I think the MSII probably has a few less smarts in comparison but I'm not sure what features you miss out on. Good thing about MS you can tinker with it yourself, so if you have a particular drivability issue, you can hook into it with your laptop and sort it. Has been running for a couple of years now with the main issue being some dodgy vacuum lines and altitude compensation settings which I have finally sorted.

Build looks great.

Probably a little off topic as I doubt going to run anti-lag,but cyclic idle makes things a massive prick to drive at low speed, can't just idle along with clutch out..because it just surges.well that's my experience from a few rally cars I've moved around at work.
But anyway back on topic.. have had nothing to do with MS but have had no problems with my link, laptop software is fully download able etc but as they say are not the cheapest.
modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....

I have actually contemplated running an anti-lag with the new ECU and tune :) Haha, I think sequential turbo's is not really an option at this stage.. Well, the bank most certainly is saying it's not.

A little off topic here, But what's everyone's thoughts on disk brake rear end setup for my truck? Currently it has drum brakes but the other terrano (parts truck) that is sitting on my front lawn has rear disk brakes.............. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i was always lead to believe that Terrano's & Pathfinder's only ever came drum brake rear? Would it be worth while pinching the brake setup out of that one or am I just wasting time & the drums will be adequate enough? :?:

Also, another thing.. Any of you in Auckland going to this? https://www.facebook.com/events/6958944 ... r=upcoming NZ Offroader & Scarles, meet & greet? Be good to meet some of you guys in person and put a face to the name haha  my ugly duckling will be there in all her glory

Been keeping myself busy tinkering away at the truck trying to get it ready for the 28th Feb for the NZO & Scarles meet & greet. Decided I would do a guard cut to get a little more clearance for my 33"s. I took about 2 inches from the front gaurd & will be looking at cutting the whole bottom off the rear quarters off too. I decided to do this because i'm not going to be doing a body lift as i'm not too interested in having a gap between my bars and body of the truck as they were built for the standard body height.

#budgetmodifications, #cheapbodylift
Gaurd chop.jpg

I'm slowly piecing the interior back together, well what's left of it anyways!

Light bar is now mounted & completely functional!

Sorry about the shitty photos.. The lighting isn't very good & neither is my phone

Have some photo's of the rear quarter cut that I've done! I was a little bit hesitant as to how it would turn out but I'm really happy with it! So far I've only done the drivers side as it's getting a bit late & my neighbors hate the noise of me working on the truck :| but fair enough i guess the noise of a grinder is a bit annoying

So, I made a last minute decision to take the truck up to Hull Road today in Dairy flat there as it's fairly close to home if anything were to go wrong, which it did...
oh no.jpg
I was lucky enough to catch it in time before it overheated too much and did any damage but it developed a leak at the thermostat housing and drew in some air into the system. The temperature fluctuated big time which was an obvious hint that something was wrong! I have now figured how to resolve the cooling issues (no it's not put the radiator back in the front where it belongs! ) I've got a little list of things that i'm going to do, as follows...

- Remove thermostat and repair housing
- Double clamp ALL hoses
- Run not only the water pump on the engine, but a electric water pump back at the radiator in the back there to help the water circulate a bit better
- High pressure radiator cap (currently it is 0.9 i'm looking at going to 1.3)
- Rather than reversing the fans like I have to have the air drawn into the cab, I will have them forcing the air out with a duct facing to the rear of the truck with a shroud over the front of the radiator to create a vacuum effect to assist with drawing the air out
- Cover the exposed connections that are in the back of the cab in case for whatever reason they were to blow-off or disconnect

If there's anything that you guys can think of that will help, i'd really appreciate any assistance with it! :)

With the fans, just incase you hadn't figured it out all ready, you can't just wire them up to run in reverse.

You also need to reverse the blade too.

The fan blade is shaped to run in one specific direction only. If you look at it you can see the way it is shaped with a slight curve to the blades. This dramatically increases the amount of air it moves.

If you just wire them up to run backwards, while they do still move air in the direction you want, it's half as much as what they would be moving if wired up the correct way round.

So to get them to work correctly in reverse, you need to take the fan blade off and flip it over.

Not always possible.

Worth getting right as it's all about the CFM of the fan, especially with a rear mounted rad.

Yeah man! I've got the fans blowing in the right direction now! I was in the process of making a window with louvers for it, was about 90% done and it cracked & broke so now i have to start over again -.- im waiting on some water pump boosters which im going to run to help with the circulation. So much to do before she's 'done' haha

Ive also got an MSII running a rover v8, It is a pretty simple install being just fuel and ignition but I think they do have a few options for boost control and stuff like that as well. The one big advantage is that you can mix and match parts like coil packs and ignitors etc which can make things a lot cheaper. Possibly the most useful thing I have found though is that you can put a Bluetooth module in it and use an Android tablet (or phone, might be a bit small though) to tune it, or just use it for the gauges, temp RPM O2, or anything else the MS unit has as an input or output basically

So, it's been a while since I've posted any updates on my truck. I've been working away at it slowly and made some pretty dramatic changes recently! Been thinking about ways to locate the radiator outside the truck but still located at the rear. I decided to roof-chop the rear end and shorten it by roughly 500mm. The chassis & all.

It's still far from done (obviously) but i'm making good progress at the 'stubby' conversion. I started by removing my radiator and mounts aswell as the windows and rear door assembly.

11110176_10205173592273270_8441255177271189754_n.jpg

I practiced masking up and cutting the roof off my parts truck to see weither or not i actually wanted to go ahead with it. After that, I masked out my good truck and double checked all my measurements about a million times so that it was all square. Begun cutting the roof off and left the rear section of the truck in tact.
11083894_10205173591753257_6718302470377255967_n.jpg

It then looked a little something like this

The following day I continued to mask up and measure out the "tray" or rear end of the truck. Removed the fuel tanks & lines and prior to cutting it made sure what fuel cell options were readily available that i could now use. Measured where i could place it in the rear and then re-marked where i would make the final cut to the rear of the body.

Once i had cut the rear section of the body off, i measured up the chassis and started on that..

So as it sits at the moment.. The truck looks like this

11150223_10205179713666301_9176815866905216273_n.jpg

The cabin will be completely enclosed in the rear when complete. My radiator will then be mounted on the back of the rear panel and the fuel cell bellow it. I'm in the process of making a 6 point internal roll cage before fabricating the rear panel to enclose the cabin. Thinking of doing a full exco cage and some pretty ridiculous bar work in the rear to house my spare wheel aswell. It's coming along fairly quickly and i have alot of ideas floating around. I'll post up some photos which are rough ideas of what I'd like to do in the way of a exco-cage

These were some rough ideas of an exco-cage. I will no longer be running the front fenders and will just run the bars instead

Just thought I'd do a quick update! I've received my new fuel cell and have begun mounting it up! The trucks making good progress.. Will be starting on my roll cage & exco cage sometime this week when my tubing arrives! Thanks to work i got it for ridiculously cheap  Placed an order for some new parts too.. BOSCH 044 external fuel pumps & Tomei fuel regulator to be added to the fuel system AND I've finally got my Davies Craig electric water pump! so fingers crossed, once it's all back together, no more cooling system issues! Still alot more work to be done before it's back out in the mud, but i'll post up some pictures soon

Note: If anyone has a set of 35" wheels & tyres for sale, please get in contact with me.. I would prefer Simex's or Silverstone's, but would consider running mudzillas or swampers!

Ok your going to want to truss the shit out of that housing... and dont try to run 35s on it unless you want to throw thousands into upgrading the internals... its weaker than the Nissan R200/C200 diff that's currently in the truck.

Doesn't look like its a split axle vac disconnect which is goood

IMO Better to grab the D44 from that Waggy in the other thread
TOYOTA - The Official Vehicle of ISIS!
And makers of the '92 Camry, where you got your first backseat handjob.
