It's left the shed and is on its way to getting a wof. Just a few issues to sort out that appeared on the drive into town and it should be ready. 4wd works as its been in the river already :)

It has been on the road for a few weeks now but as I've been on call I have hardly driven it :(
My shiny LED headlights and indicators did get a warrant but I have lost main beam on one headlamp already, hopefully my new ones from Caleb will be arriving soon :)

I have changed the door catches and handles for an aftermarket kit from taiwan they make the door shut so much better than the worn originals but they took a lot of "fitting" to make them work.
Still that's what you get for $100 for a pair of kits compared with $250 for each catch without the handles and pins for the B posts for genuine!
My original screen lasted for at least 30km before commiting suicide and turning into a million class cubes, I had a new laminated screen cut to replace it.

Sweet. Ill have to make a template as the one I have is too big (normal size), due to the screen height being chopped 3 inches

Really nice job on this truck 8)
I've been looking around for this on the road but haven't seen it yet, I like how you resisted the urge to modify it to much !
I want to do a 45 like this when I get time, can't decide wether to do a pale green like this or a mustard yellow to go with my 40, got both donors sitting waiting.
I learned to drive in a pale green 1976 fj45 like this one, so I know now what it would have looked like when my dad bought it ! :D
Nicely done

Hi Krooza, pretty much none of the mods have been non reversable apart from the heater but that was an option for 76.
It does get used as my daily driver when I'm not on call which has been too frequently lately but the furthest north it has been is to lake hood. It does Temuka to Washdyke most days but it is still on its first tank of diesel since getting a WoF!
It may yet get a five speed box but I have decided not to swap the engine to a 2H as I had originally planned.
The current H could do with some fresh injectors though, just too much white smoke in the morning and it will only get worse with the winter.
It desperately needs a cup holder for my morning coffee;)

YES Yes Yes.

I found some pistons and intend to clean them up and mill out the top to be holders. Just have to figure out where to put them.

Thanks required for the guy who gave me a snatch start after my starter packed up in new world temuka. I should have got him a beer but I wanted to get the beast home and he was gone when I went back.
I have got a 5 speed box from a 60 series fitted. I shortened the rear shaft 88mm and I'm going to shorten the rear 60 shaft to make a longer front shaft for the 45.

The engine has been running low on power and white smoking so I got the injectors rebuilt to no avail so I had a compression test done and I have knackered valves :( I was going to rebuild the head but I found a good runner for less than a gasket set so I'm going to try that first. It is a later H and has mounts for EDIC so I'm going to have to make up new linkages for the throttle and stop. They are quite different to the old setup.

While it has been idle I have had the seats recovered and found some old stock door cards from Japan. Now I'm having to get all the silver dash bits painted as it all so clean inside now!
