bought another one, more suitable for a ute conversion as it doesn't have a sunroof with the associated rails in the rear of the roof to deal with.
1997 gulf state 3.5 four cam so is getting the magna treatment to the engine aswell.

this one unfortunately was GDI, but it just means the new intake runners and plenum will be a bit more involved as it will be having conventional injectors and rails fitted, and the GDI injectors pulled and replaced with solid plugs,

amazing what a wash will do,
refitted the wing mirror's the door cards, fixed two of the broken door handles, climbed in the rear and stripped the back door from the inside out, to get to the lock to get it open.
hooked up a battery and got the R/rear window unstuck(lack of use).
cleaned the rest of the dismantled parts out of it and from what i can tell only need a CAS, crank shaft sproket, and balancer.
after removing the bumper radiator bell plates from the front seats discovered it's a 5 speed tiptronic, should be good for those
"don't take ya foot out of it" moments

With the help of our swedish exchange student we stripped the back of the truck out and cut the back of it.

matching the ribbed roof profile, will take a while but think it'll be worth it.

Bit more progress, got the pillar structure welded together and the roof seam done.

next job is some 50x50 box with load plates either side to support the rear window frame and glue that back in. then make the lower rear wall.

Got a bit more done today, fitted and connected the rear brakes and shocks, got the lower back wall in and the rest of the internal structure welded up, rear glass back in.
